“Jacob,” she said. “I thought you were different. You’ve seen everything between Bryan and me. You know the challenges we’ve faced to build our home and have Gabriela.”
Tears started to fall as she mentioned her daughter. She sniffled and continued, “Bryan is like this because of Gabriela and me. How can I just give up on him?”
Eileen closed her eyes, her voice softening as if speaking to herself. “When I first heard he’d fallen into the sea, I thought he was dead. But I still searched for him. If I hadn’t, my life would have felt pointless.”
Eileen spoke with deep sadness in her voice.
Jacob looked at her, wanting to offer words of comfort, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that nothing he said would make a difference.
To Eileen, Bryan was as important as her own existence.
She had been searching for him, driven by a deep sense of hope.
Having finally found him, giving up was not an option for her.
Yet, what could she do if she refused to give up?
It would only subject her to the agony of losing Bryan once again!
Jacob clenched his jaw and said, “I understand, Eileen. But Bryan’s in no state to be disturbed right now.”
Eileen replied, “What makes you think I’m disturbing him? Perhaps with time, he’ll remember me. You know how deeply he loves me. I will never abandon him.”
Her words were so resolute that Jacob found himself unable to argue further.
Eileen stood by the window throughout the entire night, contemplating the situation. Afterward, she used her phone to search for information about the area around the fishing village.
As the sun began to rise, she called Raymond.
“Ms. Curtis?” Raymond answered, his voice still groggy from sleep. “Is there any update on Mr. Dawson?”
Eileen spoke calmly, her voice unwavering. “Get everything prepared immediately. Arrange all the funds from EB Group, Apex Group, and Ferguson Group. I need the money urgently.”
Raymond, still stunned, nearly fell out of bed.
The amount she was asking for was in the billions!
“Ms… Ms. Curtis,” he stammered. “What are you planning?”
“I’m planning to buy a fishing village in Bayside City and develop it into a resort,” Eileen replied.
“Ms. Curtis, you need to proceed gradually with the preparatory work before investing. You have to be cautious with such a huge sum. If the project fails, you could lose everything!” Raymond said.
“I’ve already made up my mind. Just go ahead and get everything ready,” Eileen instructed before hanging up.
Raymond was stunned.
“Has Ms. Curtis lost her mind over Mr. Dawson?” he muttered under his breath.
While instructing his team to get ready, he booked a plane ticket and caught the first available flight to Bayside City.
A sudden knock on the door roused Eileen from her sleep. Opening the door, she found Raymond standing outside.
