“Could you add me to the group?” Eileen asked Lenny.
Since this was a casual chat group made up of employees from various departments, Lenny’s action of adding Eileen to the group went unnoticed.
Eileen looked at Princess Jessica’s profile and sent a friend request.
Within about three minutes, her friend request was accepted.
The next second, a money transfer notification appeared. Princess Jessica had transferred her money. Eileen was stunned.
“Those who make an effort to flatter me, the princess, will be generously rewarded.”
Eileen hesitated, her cursor hovering over the block button, but she resisted the urge to block the young woman. She didn’t respond, but instead, reviewed Princess Jessica’s posts.
Eileen was surprised to find her posts included location details, specifying the precise building and apartment number.
“Does Mr. Vazquez reside in WaterEdge Villas?” Eileen asked Lenny.
Lenny pondered briefly before replying, “Mr. Vazquez does live in that area. I’ve seen his car going in that direction, but I can’t confirm it with certainty.”
Kinsey and Conroy both lived there, and the young woman also resided there.
The thought of Conroy’s relationship with such a woman made Eileen frown. Resting her chin on one hand, she worked on organizing the form on her computer. It took her quite a while to picture the woman with Conroy.
This was too much for her to handle.
By noon, the quarterly form was nearly complete. Lenny invited Eileen to join her on the mid-level floor of the company. Lenny took Eileen’s arm and spoke to her in a friendly manner.
Eileen couldn’t resist asking, “Lenny, how old are you?”
“I’m twenty-three,” Lenny replied. She looked Eileen over and added, “You must be a year or two older than me, just call me by my first name.”
In fact, Eileen was nearly ten years older than Lenny. “Aren’t you concerned that might cause trouble for you?” Eileen asked.
“The company is so large that I could roll around on the floor if I wanted to. Why would anyone want to cause trouble for me?” Lenny said with a humorous tone. “Just look at you—if you didn’t seem so composed handling things, I’d think you were still in college.”
Lenny’s teasing left Eileen at a loss for words. She shook her head, but before she could reply, Lenny tugged her aside.
As Eileen turned and lifted her gaze, she saw Bryan being greeted respectfully by Conroy. Conroy was accompanied by the young woman, and Kinsey followed closely behind. When Conroy and Kinsey noticed Eileen, they instinctively took a couple of steps back, trying to distance themselves from Bryan. They walked side by side with Mr. Yates, who remained silent upon seeing Eileen.
Conroy turned and signaled Kinsey. Kinsey then paused, observed Conroy and the others entering the canteen, and proceeded toward Eileen.
“Mr.—” Lenny welcomed Kinsey with enthusiasm
