The room buzzed with activity as more people gathered.
As Bryan had some matters to attend to, he made arrangements for them to accompany Eileen.
Everyone ended up staying. By noon, Bryan had Raymond bring in nutritious lunches for everyone and turned the visit into a small gathering. It wasn’t until the evening that Phoebe and Dalores decided to leave.
Bryan arrived later than expected. It was only after his arrival that Bailee, along with Gabriela and Ruby, left.
Gabriela was exceptionally quiet and well-behaved throughout the day, seemingly aware of Eileen’s condition. Though she didn’t want to leave, she said nothing when she did.
Eileen had spent two weeks in the hospital.
Had it not been for Bryan’s round-the-clock presence and the daily visits from Bailee and others, she would have found the situation unbearable. With her health improving, she cautiously broached the subject of discharge.
“Do you want to leave the hospital?” Bryan didn’t dismiss the idea but conditioned it. “Agree to one thing, and I’ll consider letting you go.”
Eileen studied him, puzzled by his intentions. “What’s that?”
Bryan quirked an eyebrow. “Once you’re out, you have to stay inside for a month.”
“Stay inside? Not even step outside the house?” Eileen was surprised.
“Preferably, you should stay in your room,” Bryan said firmly, leaving no space for discussion.
Eileen appeared hesitant. “Why? I feel fine now.”
“No, you are not well. Your condition is still serious enough that remaining in the hospital to prevent a miscarriage is necessary. You might even need an early C-section if it comes to that,” Bryan explained, showing her a news article on his phone from the previous week.
The article stated that Eileen’s condition had worsened, necessitating her hospital stay to prevent a miscarriage, and doctors had announced her deteriorating condition.
After a moment, Eileen realized what he intended to do and decided to play along. “Alright, I’ll stay inside for a month.”
“Let’s get you out of here,” Bryan responded, bringing her clothes and helping her get dressed. Thirty minutes later, Eileen was at home, starting her month of confinement to her room.
The month passed quickly.
Eileen’s health declined, grabbing headlines for nearly a month concerning her baby’s critical condition.
This morning brought new developments regarding her health.
“Eileen is scheduled for a C-section at Onaland Hospital in three days,” Presley read the news with anger.
“What’s this? Weren’t they supposed to end the pregnancy with medication within a few days? Why is she still going to have the baby?” She immediately made a call. “You promised the baby wouldn’t make it. I gave you ten thousand dollars. What’s going on?”
“Well…” the voice on the other end hesitated, whispering. “Something went wrong. But it’s just a baby. If we can’t get rid of it now, we’ll deal with it after it’s born.”
Presley paused for a few seconds before responding, “Find a solution.”
