Pressing the answer button, the man on the other end asked her, “Where are you now, why haven’t you come back yet?”
“I’ll be back soon,” she responded lightly and then hung up the phone.
Back at home, the man sitting in the living room stood up and approached her, asking, “Have you eaten?”
“Not yet.”
“Go and sit down to rest; I’ll heat up the meal for you,” he said, and then he went to the kitchen.
Although he clearly saw the insulated lunch box in her hand, he didn’t ask her what she had been doing; he wanted to wait for her to tell him. But An Ruo didn’t offer any explanations, and without her opening up, it was even harder for him to ask.
Now, he had to learn to respect her and not be too domineering and selfish, or else their relationship would remain stagnant.
The next day, An Ruo didn’t go to work but stayed home to cook for Mo Hua. After preparing the food, she carried it to the hospital to visit him.
Mo Hua insisted on not letting his family take care of him, so she could only look after him herself.
