Chapter 205
205:
Comforted by Ethan’s confidence and aware of her own proficiency, Julia relaxed. “Then I’m relieved. I’ll leave now if there’s nothing else,” she said.
Ethan had pieced it together. Although Brenna hadn’t directly cut Rosie’s clothes, she was certainly the one who had ordered it.
But Rosie had brought this upon herself—she didn’t deserve any sympathy.
With a low chuckle, Ethan said to Brenna, “Nice work.”
Brenna could tell his tone lacked sincerity. “Are you mocking me?” she asked.
Calmly sipping her orange juice, her expression unreadable, she waited for Ethan’s response.
Ethan let out a soft chuckle and replied quietly, “Would I? Your approach might have been simple, but it effectively drove her up the wall. If she acts rashly out of anger, you’ve essentially won.”
Acknowledging the simplicity of her tactics, Brenna couldn’t help but smile. The method wasn’t sophisticated, but it did bring her some satisfaction.
“Why do I get the feeling you’re not really praising me?” she asked, pulling up the stock market trends on her laptop and focusing on the Moreno family’s stocks.
Ethan noticed and slowly moved closer, sitting beside Brenna. Though hesitant to sit too near, he found himself edging closer. He breathed in the faint scent of her perfume, which made his heart race. He struggled to focus on the stock trends.
His movements became awkward, and his thoughts scattered—he had no idea what to do next.
Brenna was entirely absorbed in the stock movements. She quickly tapped on her phone, sending a message to her studio’s group chat. “Everyone, let’s put in some extra hours today. We need to make sure the Moreno family’s stock hits the lowest limit tomorrow.”

Ethan accidentally glimpsed the message and was pulled back to reality. Quietly, he pushed his chair away, creating some space between them.
He knew that only by keeping his distance could he think clearly.
Otherwise, he feared he might act on impulse.
Just then, there was a loud knock at the door.
With a slight frown, Brenna rose to answer it, only to be met with Rosie’s furious expression, Rachael anxiously looming behind her.
“Brenna, did you tamper with the surveillance footage?” Rosie demanded, storming into the room. Her eyes flicked to Ethan, who was deeply focused on his computer work. His suit jacket was casually draped over the bed. Brenna and Ethan looked like a couple who had been together for years.
Rosie’s jealousy flared at the sight of them so comfortably close. Brenna had known Ethan for only a few days, yet he was already in her bedroom. How shameless Brenna was to seduce Ethan like this!
Consumed by envy, Rosie considered dragging Ethan away to confront him about his thoughts. Despite knowing Ethan for so long, he had never once stepped into her bedroom. What trick had Brenna used to make Ethan enter her room willingly?
