He spat, shaking his head.
Youre wasting your breath.
Cut the act, Shawn growled, stepping closer, his eyes narrowing in anger.
We know it was you who took him away.
Now, where is he? Zayden continued to say that he didnt know.
Holdens patience wore thin, his eyes darkening.
With a sharp glance, he signaled Shawn, who didnt hesitate.
The cold barrel of Shawns gun pressed against Zaydens temple, sending a ripple of fear through the two subordinates propping Zayden up.
They exchanged nervous glances, their heads bowed in fear.
I will ask you one last time; where is my son? Holden said, his voice lowering to a menacing growl. Zayden was not afraid.
He believed with Melon in his hand, Holden wouldnt dare kill him.
He sneered, I really dont know where your precious little boy is.
What, lost him again? Should I call the police for you? They could help you find him, you know.
Holdens expression hardened, the coldness in his eyes intensifying as his patience finally snapped.
With a swift movement, he yanked the gun from Shawns hand, pressing the muzzle hard against Zaydens forehead.
Do you think I wont kill you? Youre the head of the Fredrick family, Zayden said, his eyes looking wild.
You can do anything you want.
Zaydens laugh echoed in the tense silence.
Pull the trigger then.
You can kill me, but youll never find out where Melon is.
Fredrick, hes putting on an act.
We should take him back, torture him, and get the truth out of him.
But Holden knew better.
He knew Zaydens hatred for him ran deep, and he wasnt bluffing.
He knew Zayden would gladly take the secret to the grave if it meant holding even a shred of power over him.
Melon was Zaydens last leverage, and he would never give it up willingly.
Thinking of this, Holden decided to kill Zayden.
You think I wont kill you because you know where Melon is? Youre wrong.

Just as Holden finished saying that, the sound of a gunshot echoed. Zaydens men lay in a pool of blood, their eyes wide open in death.
In his last desperate act, Zayden had dragged two of his subordinates in front of him as human shields.
Using your own men as shields? What kind of leader does that? Holden mocked.
Zayden stood still, his temples pulsing and a chill running through his veins.
He hadnt anticipated Holden really firing at him.
When he regained his composure, fury contorted his face as he bellowed at Holden, Have you lost your mind? Im your cousin! You just tried to kill me! Now you remember were family? Holden fiddled with his gun and said, Were you thinking of family when you set me up and took Melon away? Zayden was left momentarily speechless, his fists shaking with anger.
He knew the reality was grim.
All his men were dead, and he was disabled and isolated.
Holden might take him for a harsh interrogation to extract Melons location, or he could remain silent and meet his end now.
The island was hidden; Holden would struggle to find Melon there.
