Chapter 64
Apex Game Studios
Top Floor Office
There was a knock at the door before the secretary stepped in. “Mr. Winslow, Assistant Maynard from Sylvester Group called again. He’s pressing us to submit our bid proposal p>
Victor glanced at his watch.
There were still two hours left until the deadline Caitlin had mentioned.
“Tell Assistant Maynard we’ll deliver on time,” Victor replied.
“Yes, Mr. Winslow p>
After the secretary left, another man in the office finally spoke up. “Winslow, are you still waiting for Miss Kensington?” Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn.net
The speaker was Carlisle Blake-Victor’s old high school friend and one of Apex’s shareholders, holding seven percent of the company.
“I am,” Victor said with a nod.
Carlisle frowned slightly. “We’re almost out of time. Are you sure you can count on this Miss Kensington p>
He hesitated, then continued, “You spent two weeks on that proposal and couldn’t finish it, but you think she can do it in a day? I really wouldn’t pin all your hopes on her. Look—the funding problem’s solved. We should focus on The Celestial Awards. No point risking everything and ending up empty-handed p>
Victor met Carlisle’s doubts with unwavering confidence. “If Miss Kensington wasn’t capable of handling the proposal, she never would’ve agreed to help. I trust her p>
Carlisle gave a helpless smile. “You’re obsessed, you know that p>
He could believe Miss Kensington was some trust-fund kid with money to burn, sure. But whether she actually had any real talent-Carlisle was far from convinced.
Ding!
You have a new email.
The notification made Victor immediately open his inbox. When he saw the email from Caitlin, he couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. “Miss Kensington, right on time p>
Carlisle looked surprised. “She emailed you p>
“She did.” Victor downloaded the attachment and forwarded it straight to the project lead at Sylvester Group.
Watching Victor’s quick actions, Carlisle felt a bit stunned. “You’re just sending it off without even checking p>
“No need. If Miss Kensington made it, it’ll be solid.” Victor added, “Sylvester Group announces the results tomorrow. Let’s both go p>
Carlisle licked his lips. “Winslow, you’re not seriously hoping Apex will win the contract, are you p>
Given Apex Game Studios’ current situation, losing the Sylvester Group bid would be just another blow-one they could hardly afford.
“You’ve got to dream a little,” Victor said with a crooked smile. “Besides, Miss Kensington put in a lot of effort for us. If we don’t even show up, wouldn’t that be disrespectful to her work p>
“I get it, but I’ve heard from inside sources that Julian already has a deal with The Chandler Group. We’ll just be there to make up the numbers.” Carlisle sighed at the thought.
To be honest, he wasn’t surprised Sylvester Group would pick Chandler. Julian Chandler wasn’t just anyone he was a once-in-a-decade rising star in finance. In Silverhaven, who else could’ve taken a crumbling company like Chandler Group and brought it roaring back to the top in record time?
Victor lit a cigarette. “If you don’t want to go, I’ll go alone p>
“Alright, alright, I’ll go.” Carlisle threw up his hands. As Victor’s partner, he certainly couldn’t leave him to face the music alone.
Embarrassing or not, they’d face it together.
The next morning at nine, Carlisle and Victor arrived at Sylvester Group.
By then, the conference room was already packed with representatives from some of the most renowned companies in the business.
