Chapter 44
I watched as Naomi gave me a look over for the umpteenth time since she wore the black netty gown that her mother had gifted her on her last birthday, and sighed. I felt a bit disoriented about my friend’s look over.
“Naomi…say something.” I drawled, not even sure what I wanted her to say.
She has been the one making me up all this while, and now all of a sudden, just when we are about to leave, she turned and began to look me over.
Why? I don’t know. This my friend could be weird some times, mostly in a fun way.
“I’m lost for words.” She replied, her face clothed with awe and honesty as she voiced her opinions.
“A good lost of words or a bad lost of words.” I asked, earning a burst of laughter from her.
“What the hell is that suppose to mean?” She inquired, still laughing.
“I don’t know. You weren’t saying anything.” I replied with a shrug, still standing at attention, waiting for the approval of my friend. Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn.net
I had given her mine minutes ago when she was done with her make up.
She looked gorgeous. I hoped Noah noticed her.
“So I drawled.
“So Naomi drawled back, mimicking an accent, with a smile threatening to metamorphose into a laughter any minute from then.
“Naomi I screamed, laughing thereafter with my friend who was trying to curb her own bouts of laughter.
“Mind me not.” She stated, lifting up her two hands as in surrender.
“You look breathtakingly hot!” She finally said, waggling her eyebrows at me.
I blushed at the compliment.
“Really?” I asked, looking down and touching the gown gingerly, a smile evident in my voice.
“Yeah. Adam would be blown off.” She admitted, whistling like a guy watching a lady shake her booty.
“Hey! Stop that!” I shouted, now laughing boisterously.
“Stop me if you can.” She retorted, standing at akimbo with a pout.
“Oh,yeah I asked, stepping forward towards her, in a bid to scare her into running before a car horn blew.
“Timothy p>
“Timothy p>
We both shouted, staring at each other with wide eyes, before scurrying around to pick up our sling bags which were lying idly on the bed; our play was forgotten and over.
“Maya, you haven’t chosen a shoe yet!” Naomi shouted, her eyes widening as she beheld my bare feet peeking out of the gown’s down sides.
“Oh, no..” I muttered, looking at the shoe rack. We had forgotten about that part.
Well, I am wearing a blue dress, so a silver heel will go, right? I asked myself as my eyes settled on a particular silver sandal heel.
“You know what..? Just choose any shoe from my rack. I will go out and stall him.” Naomi suggested, earning a sigh of relief from me.
I didn’t want Timothy barging in here out of anger and frustration.
“Thanks a lot Naomi. You’re the best.” I mentioned before walking to her shoe rack, knowing that her brother hated being kept waiting.
Naomi opened the front door to see her brother resting idly on his car, twirling his car around his fingers.
“You girls aren’t done yet p>
She heard a deep voice say and shifted her gaze to the west angle of the car to know who had spoken. It hadn’t been Timothy. It was Adam.
What was he doing here? Oh my. Her brother, that traitor. She cussed, glaring at Timothy who shrugged his shoulders.
How would she give Maya a heads up now?
“Hello Naomi. You are looking beautiful.” Adam said, staring at her with mild admiration. He probably hadn’t expected her to clean up so fine.
Naomi smiled then. Compliments always felt good.
“Hello Adam. Thanks for the compliment. You are not looking bad yourself. Did you tell Maya that you were coming?” She asked, stepping down the short stairs, as she made her way to the duo.
“I don’t think so.” Adam replied, throwing a wink at her which Timothy saw and huffed. He looked the other way, tapping his feet on the floor. He was obviously impatient.
“Stop hitting on my sister in front of me.” He said to Adam, in a bid to make small talk and pass time.
“Dude, chill. I was just complimenting her. Besides, She’s not complaining.” Adam replied, shrugging his shoulders.
Naomi smiled as she heard the banter between the two guys. It pleased her that even her brother had found her beautiful. Of course, Timothy being Timothy, hadn’t said it openly, but she knew.
“Where’s Maya?” Adam asked her, his eyes darting between her and the front door.
“She will be joining us soon.” Noami replied. “Just some finishing touches..and she will be here p>
“And how long will that take? The party has already started.” Timothy whined, taking a pause when Adam glared at him.
“Seriously?” Timothy cussed, obviously not pleased, before turning aside and kicking the tires of the car causing Naomi to chuckle. Her brother could be such a baby sometimes.
“Relax Tim. She will soon be here.” Noami promised, stepping closer to them, swiveling when she got to the car, such that her back relaxed on the car as they waited for Maya.
“So, how big is the party?” Naomi asked after a few minutes. She was beginning to wonder too what Maya was doing inside the room. Wasn’t it to wear a pair of shoes? How hard could that be?
“Quite big. It turned out to be bigger than I expected. It seems a lot of people want to see Maya being sent forth out of the pack. Your parents are there.” Adam stated, getting away from the pack, and turning to face the siblings, his hands in his front pockets.
“Of course..” Timothy mused. “But we need to He was saying, before a sight cut him short.
“Is that Maya?” He muttered, his eyes widening; causing Adam and a smirking Naomi to look up to the front porch of the white house.
“Bless me.” He added, still drooling.
