Leander carried Yvette from the riverbank’s corridor and made his way back to his room. Yvette remained unconscious. Though drugged, a faint smile of comfort appeared at the corner of her lips as she slept.
Leander laid her on the large bed and pressed his palm against her back. The unique Nirvana Energy inside him was an unrivaled force that could repel all evil and counteract toxins.
A single thread of this energy entered Yvette’s body. She sighed softly as her entire body relaxed. A wave of warmth spread from her back, soothing her. The drug inside her dissolved into a faint white mist and slowly evaporated with each breath.
Once he was sure she was safe, Leander tucked her in and made his way to the living room’s couch. He lay down and closed his eyes to rest.
The next morning, Yvette awoke slowly. She sat up and instinctively checked her body. She let out a relieved breath when she realized her clothes were in their proper place. Her mind raced and recalled what had happened the night before. It felt like a nightmare from hell.

She instinctively stiffened. Zayn Mardin had ill intentions toward me, and now Leander is taking me away. Does that mean he’s going to face off with the top heir of Ascendia?
Zayn is far more dangerous than Tobias. If Zayn loses his temper and goes after Leander, then Leander could be in serious trouble.
Yvette quickly got out of bed and made her way to the living room. But when she saw Leander lying on the couch, she stopped in her tracks. He was sleeping soundly, his back resting on his hands as a pillow and his legs bent casually. He looked peaceful and calm, as though nothing in the world could trouble him.
The morning sun illuminated his handsome face. Yvette felt a sense of warmth and security she hadn’t expected as she watched him. She stepped closer, pulled out a chair, and sat down beside him. She rested her chin on the backrest and found herself simply watching him, enjoying this rare moment of peace.

Leander suddenly opened his eyes and slowly sat up.
“Ah!” Yvette was startled. It felt as if she had been caught doing something wrong, and her face flushed slightly.

She suddenly recalled Zayn’s powerful presence here and asked with concern.
She had been unconscious the entire night and was completely unaware of what had happened afterward. She also didn’t know how Zayn and Howard had behaved so submissively in front of Leander.
Leander’s gaze moved to her as if he could sense her unease.
“You should worry less about me,” he said coldly. “You should focus more on yourself. Things could’ve gone much worse for you if I hadn’t been there p>
Yvette’s face flushed with guilt as she nodded weakly.
She had always considered herself a prominent figure, a capable woman among her peers. Yet, in the face of these real power players, she was nothing more than a lamb waiting to be slaughtered and had no room to resist.
She understood that if it hadn’t been for Leander last night, she would have become one of Zayn’s conquests. Even if her father knew, there would have been nothing he could do about it. She would have been sullied without a chance to defend herself.
“I owe you my thanks again, Leander,” Yvette said quietly. Her voice filled with mixed emotions. “You saved me last night. Thank you p>
Leander leaned back on the couch and casually waved his hand.
“I’ve told you before. You’re Ms. Hollis‘ daughter. I’ll be there if you’re in trouble, so you don’t need to thank me,” he added.
Yvette’s eyes dimmed slightly upon hearing this. Her voice became somewhat despondent as she spoke. “So, are you doing this because of my mom? Would you have just walked away if it wasn’t for her p>
Leander remained unmoved, his voice cold as he said, “I’ve already answered that question before. Don’t ask me the same question again p>
“Is that so?” Yvette smiled bitterly. Her feelings weren’t anger, but deep frustration and disappointment. Her heart felt torn apart.
In over ten years, she had rarely cried. Now, her throat tightened, and her eyes burned. She didn’t understand why she felt this way. Even as a child, she had never been this heartbroken.

Taking a deep breath, Yvette fought back the tears. She turned to leave, but something stopped her. She remembered how Leander had carried her on his back last night, the warmth and security she had felt.
Her steps slowed as she approached the door. She paused and looked back at him. Her voice was more determined now as she spoke, her eyes shining with resolve.
“Leander, I need to know. How many girls have you carried on your back? Am I the first p>

For a moment, Yvette was speechless. A genuine, unguarded smile then spread across her face, lifting all the gloom and disappointment. It wasn’t the answer she had expected, but for some reason, it made her happy.
Her heart lightened as she opened the door and stepped outside, her mood buoyed by the unexpected joy.

It was Colin, one of Ravenridge’s top young elites. His face was twisted in rage, and his eyes burning with jealousy. The sight of Yvette leaving Leander’s room had set him off.
He had known Yvette for years, and though they were family friends, they had never shared a private moment like this. Now, as he saw her leaving Leander’s room with a smile on her face, jealousy and anger flared up uncontrollably.
Leander didn’t even lift his gaze from his relaxed position on the couch. His voice was cold, indifferent.

Colin’s anger only deepened, his fists clenched at his sides. The tension in the room was palpable, and Leander’s calm was the only thing standing between him and the storm that was about to break.
