Chapter 46
46 Chapter 46 A Walking Dead
Woman
Rowan’s POV
“What do you mean she’s still breathing?” Rowan’s jaw
clenched as he stared at Eileen.
“Intelligence came in,” Eileen’s voice carried an edge of desperation. “Reports confirm she’s with Hardy. Very
much alive p>
Rowan’s expression darkened. “And why should Faye be my priority right now p>
“She should have died by now!” Eileen’s composure cracked, her voice climbing higher. “How is she still walking around p>
“Our pack just survived a massacre,” Rowan snapped, his patience wearing thin. “And you’re obsessing over Faye? Everyone knows she’s living on borrowed time. Hardy won’t let her see another sunrise, just like he destroyed his previous bride. Stop wasting energy on a corpse and focus on the chaos surrounding us p>

Eileen’s muscles tensed, but she held her ground.
“We cannot allow Faye to survive,” she hissed between
clenched teeth.
The atmosphere grew thick with tension as Rowan’s eyes turned cold. “She won’t,” he said with finality. “But right now, you need to get out there and tend to our injured. We can’t survive another assault from those monsters. Think about our people, Eileen. Not some walking dead woman p>
Eileen’s mouth formed a hard line, but she spun
around and stormed out of the study without uttering another word.
“What news did she bring?” Sally demanded the instant Eileen entered her chambers.
“Mother, you shouldn’t-” She paused when she noticed the dangerous gleam in Eileen’s eyes.
“Nothing significant,” Eileen answered coldly. “But I’ve already dispatched our scouts to maintain surveillance on them. Even if that healer Allen managed to pull her back from death’s door temporarily, he won’t succeed again. The toxin intensifies with dropping

temperatures. I’m confident Faye will eventually surrender to it.” At least, that was her fervent hope.
Parker’s POV
“Is that the final patient?” Lady Faye inquired as the last lieutenant exited the medical tent.
“Yes, my lady,” Parker confirmed, his gaze lingering on her profile. The flickering lantern light painted golden shadows across her features, revealing a composure and determination that contrasted sharply with her condition after the previous battle. During that encounter, she had been ghostly pale, shaking uncontrollably, and so depleted she could barely remain upright after healing multiple warriors. He had attributed it to the severity of their injuries.
That night had brought devastating wounds, deep lacerations and torn flesh that even their supernatural healing couldn’t fully address. Tonight presented a different challenge entirely. This time, they faced poison–induced damage.
Not ordinary poison, but a lethal concoction traced

directly to Alpha Marcus. It was engineered to
completely suppress their natural regenerative abilities. Gradual in its approach, but lethal enough to steadily weaken them until resistance became impossible.
Beyond the tent walls, the night air hung frigid and motionless. They were scheduled to move at dawn, yet here was Faye, still kneeling beside the wounded, channeling her energy into them without reservation.
Parker observed her once more before Allen’s voice
carried from across the tent. “Don’t concern yourself with their reactions. We’ve learned that those capable of wielding such power, abilities most couldn’t even conceive of existing, are typically witches p>
Parker watched as Faye finally lifted herself upright, cleaning her hands against her dress fabric.
“Their stares don’t bother me anymore,” she stated without raising her eyes.
“You shouldn’t let them affect you p>
Allen released a weary breath. “They’ll adjust
eventually. In time, they’ll realize you’re not a witch p>

Faye’s attention turned toward him. “Then what exactly am I p>
The question rendered Allen speechless. His lips parted slightly, but no response emerged.
“I’m obviously not a witch,” Faye continued, her voice unwavering. “I cannot perform magic, and my abilities have clear boundaries. So what does that make me p>
“I regret that I cannot answer that, my lady,” Allen finally replied.
Faye offered a gentle smile and nodded
acknowledgment. Then she directed her gaze toward Find the newest release on.net
Parker.
“The other lieutenants may have been startled,” Parker said before she could speak. “But they recognize you as the Princess Consort. They’ll sacrifice everything to ensure your safety. Every one of them can be relied upon, so there’s no need for concern. They’ll guard this secret p>
Her smile deepened slightly, and she nodded again.
“Will you attend to the others now?” Parker asked,

indicating the tent’s far corner where three figures lay motionless.
This section housed the three lieutenants who had sustained life–threatening injuries during the ambush. Previously, Alpha Marcus’s medics had examined them and declared their cases hopeless. The poison coursing through their systems was so concentrated their bodies were rejecting all medical intervention. According to the assessment, only death awaited
them.
Faye nodded agreement. She stood and approached the closest patient, a woman called Selena.
Parker maintained a respectful distance behind her. “Selena has dedicated over ten years to service,” he explained. “An experienced fighter. She’s survived more conflicts than most pack members p>
Faye knelt beside Selena and positioned her hand over the woman’s chest. The transformation happened instantly, too rapid for even supernatural senses to track completely. Flesh mended itself. Natural coloring returned. The weak, irregular breathing became strong and steady.

Selena’s eyelids opened, bewilderment washing over her features as she absorbed her surroundings.
Lady Faye didn’t hesitate. She proceeded to the second lieutenant, then the third. The tent remained quiet except for soft breathing sounds and rustling fabric as she continued her work.
When she completed the healing process, her own complexion had turned ashen. Her shoulders drooped with exhaustion, but the three who had been condemned to death were alive and recovering.
Parker noticed the subtle tremor in Faye’s posture. Her knees buckled slightly, her stability wavering just enough to alarm him. He moved toward her but another presence intervened first.
Strong arms encircled her from behind, supporting her before she could collapse. Parker’s eyes shot upward to find Lord Hardy, his expression impossible to read in the dim lighting. Without speaking, Hardy reached for her cloak’s hood, drawing it forward until shadows concealed her face. Then he gathered her into his arms with practiced ease.
“The consort requires rest,” Hardy announced, his tone quiet but commanding. His gaze swept across Parker, Allen, and the three newly healed lieutenants,
silencing them with his intensity. “We depart at sunrise. Make your preparations p>
Parker straightened to attention. Allen offered a brief nod, though none dared respond verbally.
Hardy’s voice grew harder. “What they inflicted upon us here will be returned a hundredfold. Sleep tonight. Tomorrow, we advance and we will repay every injury they delivered p>
