Chapter 90
Chapter 90:
Because I knew, deep down, that one day he too would leave. But not now. Not tonight.
Tonight, I would let him have me.
Remy was fast asleep, and I let him continue napping. It was the buzz on my phone that alerted me, and I groaned when I saw the caller on my screen. I quickly pulled up my jeans before slipping out of the master bedroom.
“I thought you told me to go on vacation. Why are you even calling?” I asked, irritated.
There was laughter from the other end before Zal continued. “I’m just giving you a heads-up, boss. Everything is going as planned, and tomorrow it’ll be done. You might feel the blow, but you’ll be out of range, so it should be fine p>
“Alright, thanks for letting me know. I’m sure you’ve already called the guards here and filled them in p>
“I did, both there and here. You’re in good hands, boss. So, I’m going to leave you to your lover.” I heard him chuckle before ending the call.
Zal and I had planned this yesterday and more this morning. He was set to frame my uncles. We got lucky since there was a shipment scheduled for tomorrow, and according to Zal’s informant, my uncles were going to be there. Apparently, they didn’t trust their Russian partner, which worked in our favor—and unfortunately, against them. Zal told me they had it coming, and I agreed.
By executing the plan while I was on vacation with Remy, it gave me the all-clear I needed with the police. Zal, as my right-hand man, would fill them in on my schedule along with Robyn. It would ensure that neither I nor my office had anything to do with the shipment.
“Ghazi? Is everything okay?” Remy’s voice broke through my thoughts as he walked out of the room, looking disheveled from his nap. He looked hot, but his eyes said otherwise.
“Hey, what are you doing up? Did I wake you?” I asked, wrapping him in my arms the moment he stepped into my embrace. Inhaling his scent, I kissed his hair and rubbed his back, sensing he needed it.
“I’m hungry,” he said, looking at me with those needy, adorable eyes. Damn, his eyes were my kryptonite. I laughed and told him to sit while I’d get dinner ready. We’d had lunch on the plane, but I noticed he hadn’t eaten much. Considering the state I found him in earlier, I didn’t blame him. Still, I hoped he would talk to me about what happened. Something bad must’ve happened to upset him that much.
I know I haven’t known him for long, but he always seemed like an easygoing guy, aside from his abandonment issues. But those could be worked through, since I had no intention of leaving him.

I had no intention of leaving him. I like him. I really do. Remy is sweet and handsome, a bit troubled, but I never liked my men to be too easy.
Remy helped me set the table while I heated up our dinner. I had instructed the staff that the cottage should be fully stocked with food and that the maids would clean after us when we were out of the house.
“So, are you ready to tell me about what happened earlier?” I placed a hand on his arm as we got to our dessert. Remy looked better, and he was eating better too.
“I wasn’t kidding when I said you should go with someone else on this trip. It’s a lovely place, and I’m sure p>
“Remy,” I cut him off mid-sentence. I didn’t want him to doubt me. “I mean what I said earlier. I like you, and I want to go with you.
This is you and me, okay? Now, will you talk to me p>
He huffed but took another bite of his cheesecake anyway. Sipping his glass of water, he continued. “I met my dad—my adoptive dad. I didn’t know I was adopted until I was in high school. By then, he had another family, and my adoptive mom wasn’t any better…” He went on, telling me about his past and how he met his dad earlier that morning.
