“Yes, Zal, I am free to go anywhere with your guard shadowing me.” I watched him in the mirror as he wrapped his arms around me, pressing his lips to the possessive mark he had left on my neck, just under my ear.
My husband loved me, cared for me, and wanted me safe. I had never felt so deeply in love in my entire life. No matter what my father threw at me, I knew Zal would always have my back.
I didn’t tell him that I was worried about him, or about what his dad might be planning behind his back. Fortunately, Oscar was more than happy to have my men shadowing him from a distance. After dropping him off at his office building, I went straight to Ghazi’s place. He kissed me and told me he loved me before getting out of the car, assuring me he wouldn’t be at the office all day. I nodded, telling him to call me when he was ready to go home, and I would pick him up.
“Married life looks good on you, cousin,” Ghazi greeted me the moment I entered his home office.
“Yeah? Thanks. I just need to make sure Oscar’s dad knows where he stands before I take my new husband on a real honeymoon p>
Ghazi’s smile faltered the moment I mentioned Oscar’s father. Not that the man was dangerous, but Ghazi and I knew enough to understand that even the quietest bear can become vicious when provoked. With Oscar leaving the company and our recent marriage, it could trigger something in him.
That’s why I was at Ghazi’s.
“There’s chatter. Oscar’s father is getting his jet ready, and it looks like he’s planning to bring your husband back to London to join the rest of his family. Maybe even convince him to annul the marriage p>
“Fuck, he’s fast. But I’ve got our men shadowing Oscar p>
“Yes, don’t worry. We’ve got cameras on them for proof. It’s easier to blackmail than to fight fair.” Ghazi assured me, sauntering behind the bar.
I nodded. With a man like Oscar’s father, who cared more about his public image than anything else, I was confident in how to turn the situation to our advantage. I just had to make sure everything went according to plan.

Ghazi and I had our men sneak in to install cameras in Oscar’s office and several other strategic locations in his office building where we expected things to go down. I was more than prepared. After everything my husband had been through, I wasn’t about to let him suffer again.
I took the glass of whiskey Ghazi offered, raising an eyebrow.
“God, Zal… It’s five o’clock somewhere. Come on, we’ve been like brothers for too long. I want to congratulate you properly on your marriage.” He raised his glass. We smiled and clinked our glasses in a toast.
“To your future,” he said before sipping the fine liquor and pulling me into a hug.
“Thank you, Ghazi…” I was about to say more when both of our phones buzzed. Well, shit… I was expecting a text or a phone call from Oscar. But when Chip was the one calling, I knew something had gone terribly wrong. I put the call on speaker, knowing it would be quicker.
“Boss, he got shot.” Chip’s voice was panicked, and in the background, I could hear Bear cursing as if he were behind the wheel, trying to beat traffic.
That was all it took to send my heart into overdrive. I immediately asked him if Oscar was alive.
