Cole reached out and gently ruffled her hair. “Never doubt my love for you. Eva has never mattered in my life.”
Cole then proceeded to explain in detail why he had once proposed to Wanda. Although Elliana already knew the whole story, she still listened intently.
After finishing his account, Cole said, “If not for my mistaken belief that Wanda was the one my mother wanted me to marry, I’d never have had any dealings with Eva. That mistake is over. All ties are cut. She means nothing to me now.” Elliana felt sweetness stir inside her, though she still pouted. “Then why answer her call at all?”
Cole answered, “I picked up because of you. You’re Arthur’s daughter, and she’s his wife. That’s the only reason. If you think that my not answering her calls won’t affect you, then I won’t take her calls in the future.”
At these words, every trace of grievance in her heart melted away. His choice was clear, his loyalty absolute. She couldn’t help but smile. Looking at him, she said, “I don’t want you to take her calls or address her as your aunt. I want you to have nothing to do with her. I will deal with her one day.”
“Alright.” Cole agreed without hesitation. Right there in front of her, he deleted all of Eva’s contact details and blocked her permanently.
Elliana’s heart soared at his decisiveness. “So, does this mean whatever I ask of you, you’ll do?”
Cole nodded. “Yes.”
Elliana grinned and made her bold request. “Then come with me to visit my family.”
