Megan Anderson walked over, a hint of worry shadowing her delicate features. “Ms. Blair, I’ve just heard back from I&A about the White Rabbit game rights.”
Emily Blair’s eyes flickered. “Go on.”
Megan continued, “Mr. Lane from I&A says he’d like you to negotiate in person.”
Emily’s brows knitted slightly. “Did you hear that directly from Andrew Lane himself?”
Megan shook her head. “No, I haven’t spoken to Mr. Lane. His assistant relayed the message, but it’s clear he’s speaking on Mr. Lane’s behalf.”
The office fell silent for a moment before Megan added, “His assistant mentioned Mr. Lane will be here on business the day after tomorrow. He’ll have time that afternoon if you want to set up a meeting.”
Emily considered this. “So, they’re at least open to selling the White Rabbit rights?”
Megan looked uneasy and shook her head. “I’ve been reaching out to I&A since I got this assignment, but so far, they haven’t given any clear signals. Mr. Lane has refused to take my calls. You might need to handle this personally.”
Emily’s voice was calm. “Understood. That’s all for now-you can go.”
After Sadie and Megan left, the office returned to a heavy silence.
Unlike the earlier awkwardness, now both of them were lost in their own thoughts, tension thick in the air.
Tristan Davis’s good mood evaporated the moment he heard Andrew Lane’s name. Annoyance surged inside him, pounding against his chest and temples, making him restless and irritable, as if he wanted to flip the world upside down.

Without hesitation, Emily picked up the phone and dialed Sadie’s extension. “Yes, Ms. Blair?”
“Book me in at Candlelight Chronicles for the afternoon after tomorrow with Mr. Lane. Clear my schedule for that time and confirm the exact hour with his team.” “Understood, Ms. Blair.”
She’d barely hung up when Tristan’s voice cut through the quiet, tight with frustration.
“Emily, you’re really going to meet him?”
