Chapter 1457
Chapter 1456:
The footage showed Merlin leaving with Hailee, and the truth was impossible to ignore. He wasn’t the only one who was drunk. She could barely stand on her own.
Elliana pressed her lips together, angry at herself for having been right from the start. He had gone too far when they were both too intoxicated to think clearly.
Anger coursed through her as she looked up at Hailee. Her voice was steady, leaving no room for doubt. “It was Merlin, wasn’t it p>
The young woman’s shoulders drew inward and she lowered her head even further.
Nothing more needed to be said.
The sharp sound of a hand slamming the table shattered the silence. Adah shot to her feet, her face hardened with rage. “That monster! How dare he take advantage of Hailee when she was drunk?” she shouted. “I swear I’ll make him pay myself p>
She spun around, ready to storm out.
At that moment, Cole and Allan came down the stairs without hesitation.
Allan caught her by the arm and tried to calm her. “Adah, wait. Let’s hear the full story first before jumping to conclusions. It could be a misunderstanding p>
Her anger didn’t diminish in the slightest. She turned to face him and fired back. “A misunderstanding? What’s that supposed to mean? Are you trying to say Hailee threw herself at Merlin p>
Allan was at a loss for words. Although he wanted to defend his friend, the reality was too stark to ignore. Hailee was small and fragile; Merlin, by contrast, was far stronger. If she hadn’t given her consent, then he must have overpowered her. No friendship could erase that truth.
Even so, he forced himself to speak. “I’ve known him for years. He’s always conducted himself well. I find it hard to believe he would do something like this intentionally p>
Cole also stepped in, his voice tense but measured. “If something happened, he was probably completely drunk. He may not even be aware of how serious it was p>
“Lies!” Adah erupted, letting her rage take over. “Don’t insult us. Being well-behaved when sober and becoming despicable when drunk doesn’t justify anything. Or does he plan to use alcohol as an excuse for something so brazen p>
Cole opened his mouth to respond, but Elliana cut him off immediately, her tone cold and firm. “Your opinion of him doesn’t matter right now. The only thing that matters is that Hailee was hurt. I’ll make sure justice is done, regardless of who turns out to be responsible p>

Cole let out a long sigh before nodding. “You’re right. I’ll call him. He needs to come here and explain himself p>
Without wasting time, he took out his phone, dialed the number, and demanded that Merlin come immediately.
Adah turned to Allan, her gaze steely. “When he shows up, if his explanation isn’t good enough, your friendship won’t protect him. I’ll make him pay, and I won’t show mercy p>
Elliana looked at Cole, equally resolute. “I feel the same way,” she said.
