“This portion is for dad, and this one is for the great-uncle, don’t mix them up,” Lin Yue specifically instructed.
Zhao Erhu weighed the two baskets, which looked alike on the outside but had a clear difference in weight, and grinned, “Niuniu really is clever, you understand my meaning without me even saying it. You truly are Zhao Erhu’s wife.”
“Of course, who else would I be?” Lin Yue said pridefully, lifting her head. Hurry up and go already, I need to deliver the remaining portions.”
Lin Yue ushered Zhao Erhu out the door. She then went back inside to change clothes and get ready to leave. There were three places she needed to visit, and she couldn’t carry all the items at once. Since Sister Chunhua’s home was closest, she decided to deliver the Wu Family’s portion first, before heading to the village chief’s and Chunxi’s homes.
“Third mother, let us brothers deliver Sister Chunhua’s portion,” Dalang said, having seen Lin Yue busy herself these days. Feeling sorry for her, they wanted to help with something, but there wasn’t much they were skilled at. Finally, there was something within their ability, and Dalang eagerly volunteered.
Lin Yue had noticed the kids peeking and hesitating to speak earlier, so when they finally mustered up the courage to offer their help, she cheerfully agreed. Children are endearing in that way; when you’re good to them, they return your kindness with their most sincere affection. Normally, kids the age of Dalang and his siblings would be most eager to play, but these past days, she hadn’t seen them go out much. They were either picking firewood by the hills or helping her with chores at home, even if they weren’t particularly helpful, just watching her. They were extremely well-behaved.
“Great, I really couldn’t carry it all by myself. If you help me deliver it, that would be perfect. The task of delivering to Aunt Chunhua’s home is now yours,” Lin Yue said.
“Third mother, rest assured, I promise I’ll safely deliver the goods to Aunt Chunhua’s home,” Dalang assured her, slightly anxious that Lin Yue might not trust them. Seeing her readily agreeing and entrusting them with the task, he made a solemn promise.
“Yeah, third mother, don’t worry, we absolutely won’t sneak any bites,” Si Lang added, biting his finger, earning stern glares from his brothers. This glutton really was embarrassing.
