Leng Yan looked at her confused, not understanding what she meant. Xia Nuo silently cursed, truly playing music to a cow.
The two of them boarded the bus together, and on the way back, Xia Nuo received a call from Aunt Zhao. Aunt Zhao said she couldn’t come back today due to an emergency and told her to cook for herself.
Xia Nuo hung up the phone and asked Leng Yan, “Can you cook?”
Leng Yan nodded, and Xia Nuo felt a bit sorry for him. Such a pitiful child, forced by life at such a young age to the point of even knowing how to cook.
Unlike her, who besides knowing how to make scrambled eggs with tomatoes, couldn’t cook anything else.
Lying back on the sofa, Xia Nuo was engrossed in her manga, and an hour later, Leng Yan’s meal was ready.
“This is the meal you made?” Staring at a big pot of noodles, Xia Nuo asked in shock.
Leng Yan nodded, took two bowls, served himself a big bowl, added salt, oil, soy sauce, and vinegar, then started eating in big mouthfuls.
As he ate, he frowned, apparently the noodles weren’t tasty.
Xia Nuo looked at him speechless, she thought she might as well go for chips and chocolate.
After eating for a while, Leng Yan noticed she wasn’t moving, and he looked up in confusion, “Why aren’t you eating?”
“Is it good?”
“It can fill your stomach.”
Xia Nuo originally didn’t plan to eat it, but suddenly softened because of his words.
“Have you always eaten this?” She probed.
Leng Yan nodded and then shook his head, “Can buy boxed meals too.”
Damn, she really wanted to scold herself, eating snacks every day instead of good meals. Look at what he’s been eating, tasteless noodles, or boxed meals.
Compared to Leng Yan, she was simply unappreciative of her blessings.
After a bit of self-reproach, Xia Nuo decided to tough it out a bit.
Even though the noodles were bad, she still gritted her teeth and finished a bowl. After the meal, the dishwashing task also fell to Leng Yan.
No choice, Miss Xia’s delicate fingers never touch household chores.
Mrs. Xia called, asking if Xia Nuo had eaten. Xia Nuo decided to give Leng Yan some well-deserved praise, telling her mom over the phone that Aunt Zhao wasn’t there today and it was Leng Yan who cooked for her.
She hoped that her parents would have a better impression of Leng Yan and therefore take better care of him.
