Elio’s tone sounded somewhat disappointed. “Is it not allowed?”
Candice shook her head. “It’s not that it’s not allowed, it’s just…”
Elio smiled gently without saying a word, turned around, and left the room. As he closed the door behind him, he softly whispered, “Goodnight.” With that, he closed the door.
Candice lay dumbfounded on the bed, completely bewildered.
What was going on?
Was she dreaming?
Did Elio just smile and speak so softly to her?
It must have been a dream, it must have been! Otherwise, why would he act so out of character?
The last time he smiled at her like that was many, many years ago.
Candice collapsed onto the bed, clutching her pounding heart. Images of Elio holding her kept replaying in her mind. His body had felt warm, almost hot, and his scent was pleasantly comforting
