Lucas met her gaze and said, “It’s not safe to call for a designated driver. Consider me your driver tonight.”
Belinda managed a forced smile. “As long as you stay far away, Mr. Clark, I’ll be safe. Besides, I can’t afford to make the famous son of the Clark family my driver,” she said mockingly.
Belinda’s words struck Lucas deeply.
His Adam’s apple bobbed twice as he processed her words.
Silently, he took the car keys from her hand, bent down, and lifted her into his arms.
“Lucas! Let me go! I said let me go; do you hear me?”
Belinda struggled against his grasp.
