Chapter 1459
The doctor frowned as he examined the medicine. “This shouldn’t be blue. It should be small brown tablets. Did you accidentally purchase counterfeit medicine?”
“Maybe. Thank you for that.” Bryan stored the medicine, his expression cold.
“The baby is fine. It’s likely the counterfeit medicine that’s causing an imbalance in your system. I recommend a blood test,” the doctor said.
Eileen had her blood drawn. After two hours of waiting, the results showed that both she and the baby were fine. However, she was advised to stay in the hospital for observation.
Bryan secured a private ward for Eileen, then reached out to Raymond, handing him the bottle of medicine. “Send this for testing and keep an eye on Dr. Nixon at Onaland Hospital.”
“Is Mrs. Dawson alright?” Raymond peeked into the ward through the window, but only the quilt at the foot of the bed was visible.
“No major problems for now. Get to the bottom of this, but don’t act rashly,” Bryan instructed.
Realizing that Bryan was in no mood to discuss the matter further, Raymond quickly took the bottle for testing.
By the next morning, the results were in. The medicine was harmful and, if taken over a long period, could potentially cause a miscarriage, adversely affecting the mother as well.
“Dr. Nixon isn’t the culprit. It was the assistant who obtained the medicine from the pharmacy. I’ve been keeping an eye on her. It turns out she met with Presley a few days ago…” Raymond said.
Even over the phone, Raymond could sense Bryan’s displeasure. He sighed to himself. Why were these people always trying to cause trouble for Bryan and Eileen?
“Set up a meeting for me and Dr. Nixon.” Bryan glanced into the ward, ended the call, and opened the door to enter.
Eileen had just gotten out of bed. She barely had her feet on the floor when she saw Bryan enter. “I just wanted to go to the bathroom,” she said.
The doctor had instructed her not to leave the bed. She had intended to wait for Bryan, but he hadn’t come for a while.
Bryan removed his suit jacket and deftly unbuttoned his cuffs. Then, he rolled up his sleeves and bent down to carry Eileen.
Startled, Eileen gasped and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
Bryan’s expression was one of deep concern. His jaw was set tightly, and the look in his eyes made the chilly autumn air feel even colder.
Eileen assumed he was merely carrying her to the bathroom. To her surprise, after setting her down, Bryan began to take off her pants.
“Stop. I can do it myself. You wait outside,” Eileen said.
“The doctor said you shouldn’t be left alone,” Bryan said seriously. After speaking, he gently removed her hands and proceeded to help her with her leggings.
Eileen’s ears flushed with embarrassment. “The doctor meant I shouldn’t be left alone for long periods, not that you need to hover over me 24/7. Plus, you can stay just outside the bathroom. I’m not really alone.”
Bryan paused.
