“Having my goddaughter with you really bothers me!” Josue grumbled. He pressed further, “Can you really bring yourself to take her out? She’s been stuck at home for so long; it’s unbearable to even think about.”
His voice carried a mix of frustration and concern as he gently tapped Eileen’s shoulder and suggested, “I could take her out, you know.”
Eileen was at a loss for words.
She couldn’t deny that a small part of her was tempted by the idea, though her excitement was mild at best.
The realization that Gabriela could hardly ever join them in public outings tugged at Eileen’s heartstrings.
During the drive back, Eileen stayed quiet, her mind preoccupied with one troubling thought—the issues with the Dawson family required urgent attention.
In truth, Brandon lacked a business acumen, and now Zola was in charge of the Apex Group.
Eileen recalled the obstacle Zola had placed in her path regarding the acquisition of Trenton’s club, and her lips pressed into a thin line.
As the car rolled to a stop, neither she nor Bryan made a move to exit.
Leaning against the car door, Eileen turned to him and asked, “Who’s our next target?”
Without hesitation, Bryan replied, “Zola.”
Eileen raised an eyebrow. “Okay, I’ll take care of it!”
Zola had always been a thorn in their side and seemed likely to remain one.
“Thank you,” Bryan said, then raised his hand, drawing Eileen closer and planting a soft kiss on her forehead. “If you run into any problems, just go to Raymond. He’s my right-hand man. Since I’ve put him in your charge, remember to give me credit if he does well.”
He gave the tip of her nose a gentle pinch, his expression a mix of warning and frustration. “Got it?”
Eileen, tickled by the gesture, held back a giggle and whispered, “Got it.”
Though Eileen was prepared to confront Zola, she planned to wait for the right moment without causing unnecessary conflict.
Unexpectedly, that moment arrived sooner than she anticipated.
She was scheduled to meet Trenton to finalize the acquisition contract. The agreement was close, so she attended the meeting alone.
Trenton was efficient, and they completed the signing in just a few minutes. However, out of courtesy, they continued their meal together.
