It dawned on Zola that she had been sent as a “gift,” not as a negotiator for Kian.

“I’m not pleased with the location you’ve selected.” The bearded man set his glass down and declared, “I’ll give you another opportunity. Make a change.”
He was hinting at a more secluded spot—perhaps a hotel room furnished with a king-sized bed.
