“After giving it some thought, I believe Benjamin should handle the housing arrangements,” Julio said, shifting the focus. “It’s more fitting for a man to take care of a woman in this situation. As for you, it’s a different story.”
Eileen had her own share of troubles, and with so many eyes always on her, she knew that if anyone discovered she was taking care of a pregnant woman, the rumors would spread quickly.
Julio’s support for Dalores’ university education hadn’t been a secret, and this connection wouldn’t withstand scrutiny.
“Alright, I’ll discuss it with him,” Eileen agreed. They then covered a few work-related matters before she left.
When Eileen relayed Julio’s decision to Benjamin, he accepted it without hesitation.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Eileen asked, “Don’t you have any thoughts on the path Julio’s choosing?”
“Some people value love more than their lives, while others don’t,” Benjamin replied, pausing for emphasis. “Personally, I prioritize my career over my love life. If I hadn’t, you and I wouldn’t be in this situation.”
Benjamin had often regretted not resigning from his position as Kian’s assistant to pursue Eileen in Wist Land.
His fear of losing both his job and his chance with her meant that he valued his professional future more than his love life.
“Julio’s situation is far more complicated. He’s managed to take over the Freguson Group, but his position within the family is still fragile. He needs the Harrison family’s support and can’t afford to alienate them.”
Benjamin’s words eased the weight on Eileen’s heart.
“It’s natural to feel sympathy as a woman, but you can’t get involved. In the future, try to distance yourself from Dalores. Leave this matter to me.”
Eileen nodded in agreement. “Thank you. I’ll leave it to you then. It’s going to be a tough task. If you encounter any issues, address them directly with Julio.”
That evening, as Eileen arrived home and parked, her phone rang. It was Roderick.
“Eileen, I found a place this afternoon. The rent’s nearly settled, and it used to be a small restaurant, so I can save on renovation costs…”
Roderick’s excitement was palpable as he explained that the preparations for the noodle restaurant would take at most two weeks.
His quiet surroundings suggested he was calling from a discreet location.
“Judie and I have it all planned out. She’ll work as the cashier. Since Mom doesn’t want to work, she’ll handle the cleaning. I’ll keep an eye on her daily to ensure she doesn’t slack off…”
