Eileen sighed, realizing they didn’t fully grasp the situation but chose not to press further. Tonight, the responsibility was hers.
At the hotel, a banner celebrating a wedding anniversary hung prominently. A red carpet stretched from the hotel’s entrance to the street. As their car pulled up, the trio stepped out and walked into the hotel.
The celebration hall was packed with people, all smiling and toasting. Groups huddled together, whispering to one another.
In the crowd, Eileen spotted Raymond in the distance and gave him a subtle nod.
Raymond, upon seeing her, quietly relayed to Bryan through his Bluetooth earpiece, “Ms. Curtis has arrived.”
“Keep her safe,” Bryan instructed, his attention focused on Gabriela.
With the earpiece in, Raymond could pick up conversations within a three-meter radius. Despite the noisy venue, Bryan kept the earpiece in place to ensure Gabriela was not disturbed by any loud sounds.
At the event, the trio’s entrance didn’t immediately draw attention, confirming Eileen’s suspicions. Brandon’s warning had clearly had an impact.
The formal announcement of the project winner would be made in two weeks. Tonight, however, was simply for preliminary confirmations.
Brandon, on the other hand, was already acting like a victor, walking ahead of two government officials with a broad smile.
The government officials, in contrast, wore forced smiles, briefly acknowledging the crowd with nods.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to introduce Mr. Watts from Onaland and Mr. Wright from Linder Land,” Brandon announced carefully, aware of the potential controversy their presence at such an event could stir.
The two men gave a brief wave before bowing their heads slightly. Their bodyguards scanned the room vigilantly, ensuring no one was taking photos.
The crowd, eager not to offend, greeted them politely, offering many flattering remarks.
“I’m honored that they could join my wife and me for our wedding anniversary. Allow me to also introduce the promising talents of Freguson Group,” Brandon continued, eager to showcase Freguson Group.
“Mr. Freguson, Ms. Curtis, Mr. Nash, these three are the rising stars in Onaland’s business landscape. What’s your take, Mr. Watts?” Brandon asked, smiling broadly.
Watts’ expression shifted slightly as he responded vaguely, “I must admit, I’m not deeply familiar with the business world, but from what I gather, Apex Group has maintained a stable position for quite some time.”
His implication was clear—Apex Group stood far above Freguson Group.
Pleased with himself, Brandon replied, “Mr. Watts, your praise is too kind. We, the younger generation, still have much to learn and eagerly look forward to more collaborative opportunities. We’re about the same age and should support each other.”
Eileen couldn’t stomach his flattery any longer and discreetly slipped away from the gathering.
