Possibly intimidated by Eileen’s stern gaze, Christos did not follow.
Afterward, Eileen handed her coffee to Benjamin, and the two of them drove off.
Eileen worried that Christos might inform Travis about her plan to steal evidence from Brandon. That would be as good as telling Brandon himself, rendering all her efforts useless.
After Eileen and Benjamin left, Lydia arrived at the coffee shop.
Instead of her usual dignified, elegant style, she had opted for a revealing off-the-shoulder skirt and heavy makeup, looking alluring.
As soon as she stepped out of the car, she spotted Christos standing nearby. She quickly narrowed her eyes and walked over. “What are you doing here…?”
Eileen returned home, still carrying the scent of cologne.
She had informed Bryan that she would be working late and advised him not to wait up for dinner.
When she walked in, the dinner plates were still on the table. Ruby was just tossing some leftover food into the trash.
“You’re back early. Weren’t you working late?” Ruby asked as she picked up an empty plate. “Have you eaten?”
“No, but I’m not hungry,” Eileen replied, slipping off her shoes and helping Ruby tidy up the table as they discussed Bailee’s situation.
Eileen wasn’t sure if Huey had resolved the issue with the arranged marriage he had faced that night, as Bailee hadn’t mentioned it again.
While Eileen was cleaning, Bryan suddenly entered the kitchen and took the items from Ruby’s hands. “Go ahead and help Gabriela with her bath. It’s not appropriate for me to do it,” he said.
Typically, it was either Ruby or Eileen who bathed Gabriela, since Bryan was a man.
Ruby quickly washed her hands and hurried upstairs to the bathroom with Gabriela.
As Eileen tossed a dish into the sink, Bryan grabbed her hand and pushed her into a corner.
“Which man smells so good on you? And why did you lie about working late?” Bryan asked, his voice thick with jealousy.
Eileen could tell Bryan was just being jealous, but he looked seriously intense, his eyes focused on her, waiting for an explanation.
“What do you mean?” Eileen said, still not noticing the cologne on her. “What are you, a dog? How can you smell that?”
“If I were a dog, I’d bite you to death first,” Bryan replied darkly, then lowered his head to sniff her again. “What awful perfume is this?”
Eileen suspected the scent was Christos’s cologne.
“He’s just a kid,” she said nonchalantly.
Bryan paused for a moment before asking, “Not a client?”
