In the afternoon, Eileen returned home to find Gabriela asleep.
She placed Brandon’s medical report in front of Bryan, and his expression suddenly changed.
“Where did you get this?” Bryan asked, his voice low.
“This is real, right?” Eileen replied, observing Bryan’s reaction, which confirmed the document’s authenticity.
She glanced over at the slumbering Gabriela and motioned for Bryan to join her in the study.
Once inside, Eileen explained her interaction with Christos.
“Travis’ friend?” Bryan’s expression turned cold.
“He claims to be, though I can’t confirm it. But the documents he provided are legitimate,” Eileen said, leaning against the desk, watching Bryan closely. Her lips were tightly pressed, revealing her concern.
She knew that engaging with Christos was risky, given his connection to Travis, but the information he provided was too valuable to ignore.
After a moment of silence, Bryan spoke again, his voice steady but strained. “What else did he say?”
“He mentioned that Brandon believes your mother forced his mistress to leave, and that her fabricating his car accident led to his current condition,” Eileen replied, her voice careful. “But I don’t believe your mother could have done such a thing.”
If Bryan’s parents were capable of such deceit, Eileen thought, Bryan himself wouldn’t be as genuine and honorable as he was.
Bryan’s gaze darkened as he sat down in a chair bathed in sunlight. Despite the warmth, he looked lost, surrounded by an overwhelming sense of loneliness and coldness.
“That’s why my mother’s death never convinced him of her innocence,” Bryan said, his voice barely above a whisper. His words carried a weight of deep, unresolved pain.
He had always suspected that his mother’s death was somehow tied to Brandon.
Bryan had been young when he witnessed his parents’ relationship unravel that night. After Brandon’s accident, Brandon stayed in the hospital, emotionally unstable, and threatened to kill his wife.
During Brandon’s hospitalization, his wife had visited only in the beginning, never returning after that.
Three months later, when Brandon was discharged, he began to speak harshly in front of Bryan, who had been just a child at the time.
Just a few months earlier, the Dawson Mansion had been filled with the warmth of a harmonious family life. Bryan, his mother, and Stella had created a peaceful, joyful home.
