Chapter 500
Suddenly, Zola felt a cold shiver run through her. When had Eileen secretly had a child?
Overwhelmed with emotions, Zola accepted whatever Kian handed her without hesitation. Unbeknownst to her, Kian had slipped a small white pill into her drink.
Half an hour later, Zola felt a surge of intense heat coursing through her. Kian escorted her out of the bar and used her ID to check into a nearby hotel, paying with her card.
Inside the hotel room, Zola clung to Kian, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck, rising on her tiptoes to kiss him.
Kian turned his head away. Though his body reacted to Zola’s actions, he couldn’t shake what Zola had done to Vivian. Even though he loved Zola, he felt that touching her would be a betrayal of Vivian.
He pushed Zola away and left the room, eventually finding a drowsy beggar on the street. He handed the beggar the room card and walked away.
The next morning, Zola woke to a nauseating stench. Shocked, she found a beggar sleeping beside her. Her mind raced as she tried to process what had happened.
Meanwhile, out on the vast ocean, a luxury cruise ship glided gracefully. A man stood at the bow, breathing in the salty sea breeze. After spending half an hour at sea, he returned to the shore of the island.
With a heavy sigh, he muttered, “It would be such a waste to have my son stuck on this island, unable to spend his money. Call Lydia and check on how things are going on her side.”
“No need for that, sir. The news is already out,” a subordinate said, approaching the man and handing him a tablet that displayed the news of Brandon’s expulsion and Travis being disassociated from the Dawson family.
As he finished reading the news, Lydia’s call came through. “Are you still in the mood for sailing? Things went wrong here!” Lydia exclaimed.
The man arched an eyebrow. “Isn’t that your problem? You assured me the plan was foolproof, that our son would get a new identity.”
“But I didn’t foresee this…” Lydia clenched her teeth, too frustrated to continue.
She clung to a fading hope. According to her, Travis had been conceived before Brandon’s accident.
But in this situation, even if Lydia confessed the truth, the Dawson family would likely insist on a paternity test, rendering her efforts useless.
Before they could delve deeper into Travis’ background, she had to remain silent.
“The strategy you devised is too time-consuming. It might legitimize everything without implicating us, but it doesn’t suit my son. Let’s proceed with my earlier suggestion. It’s not the cleanest method, but it leaves no evidence.” The man was resolute in his decision.
Lydia felt uneasy. After years spent embedded within the Dawson family, she felt entitled to the position and was reluctant to let go.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure the Dawson family pays.” The man understood Lydia’s frustration. With some coaxing, Lydia reluctantly agreed.
