After ending the call, the man casually tossed his phone aside and turned to his subordinate. “Send the new drug we developed to… Zola. I like her ruthlessness. She’ll be perfect for testing its efficacy.”
“Sir, that woman is tough, yet she’s still inexperienced compared to Bryan.” The subordinate paused before adding, “Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been pushed back like that after she had Apex Group under her control.”
They had done their research on Zola, confident that her fiery nature would make it hard for her to accept her dismissal from Apex Group without retaliation. However, they doubted that Zola held any real leverage against the increasingly influential Bryan and Eileen.
The man massaged his forehead briefly, then his face broke into a grin. “It’s been ages since I’ve heard you speak so highly of someone. I’m really starting to want to meet Bryan.”
The subordinate lowered his head, cautioning, “Sir, please think it over. Bryan isn’t someone you want to provoke, especially when your own life could be at stake.”
“Why not?” The man spun around. “This is about the new drug we’re developing. If it succeeds, I stand to make a fortune. Stirring up this kind of drama will only highlight my success and keep those chasing after me at bay. Isn’t that delightful?”
His excitement grew with each word. “Prepare everything. I’m heading out.”
Eileen hadn’t expected that, after announcing Bryan’s integration into the Curtis family, she would end up being the one swamped with work. The Freguson Group was flooded with collaboration offers, and one project after another rolled out smoothly, ushering in a wave of new partnerships.
Meanwhile, Eileen received a call from Roderick, who had just opened his restaurant. He had invited her to the ribbon-cutting two days ago, but she had been too busy to attend. Now, having learned from the internet that Eileen had a daughter, Roderick had been calling persistently, asking Eileen to bring Gabriela to his restaurant to eat. As her uncle, he hadn’t yet had the chance to meet his niece.
On a quiet Monday evening, Eileen and Bryan decided to visit Roderick’s restaurant, keeping a low profile. The restaurant, located near a busy commercial street, saw high foot traffic during lunchtime. By evening, as people headed home, the crowd thinned significantly.
