As Eileen gazed into Bryan’s earnest eyes, she began to question if she was wrong.
“Then I’ll take her back.” Bryan took Gabriela from Eileen’s arms and turned to leave, his expression carrying a hint of pride.
Raymond quickly tugged at Eileen’s sleeve. “Ms. Curtis, don’t let him get upset.”
Eileen still remembered how difficult Bryan had been the last time he got angry. Though she suspected he was putting on an act now, she stopped him. “Well, since you’re already here, why not bring her upstairs? Julio is here too, and he hasn’t met Gabriela yet.”
“That’s not a great idea.” Bryan stood with Gabriela in his arms, his back to the sunlight, leaning on the car as he looked up at the office building. “You’re all busy working. Why should I bring a child here?”
“I decide what’s appropriate here. If I say it’s fine for you to bring her to the office, then it’s fine,” Eileen replied.
Bryan then walked into the building with Gabriela, a satisfied smile on his face. Eileen and Raymond followed, with Raymond muttering, “Ms. Curtis, is Mr. Dawson suffering from postpartum depression? Even though he didn’t give birth, it’s said that caring for a child can easily lead to depression, no matter the gender. Has he gone crazy at home?”
That must be why he was so eager to go out, not just to show off his daughter. Maybe he needed the social interaction to fend off depression.
“You’re reading too much into it. He’s strong. He’s not the type to get depressed easily,” Eileen responded, too embarrassed to admit that Bryan’s boundless energy at home was almost too much for her.
Bryan only stayed at the Freguson Group for less than an hour. When Eileen introduced Gabriela to Julio and Benjamin, he seized the opportunity to update Raymond on some complex matters concerning the Apex Group.
Raymond thought to himself, “Great, now you want me to manage things for Eileen and for Apex Group too? Am I a machine?”
But he kept his thoughts to himself and only replied, “Yes, Mr. Dawson. I assure you, I’ll handle everything you’ve tasked me with efficiently.”
Afterward, as Eileen needed to get back to work, Bryan left with Gabriela.
Since Bryan had recently announced he had a daughter with Eileen, there was considerable interest in seeing the once-prominent business figure now embracing his role as a full-time dad.
Even as Bryan walked downstairs, a few reporters were there snapping photos of him with Gabriela, making sure to blur the images for privacy.
However, when Zola saw these blurred photos in the news, she instantly recognized the child as the one Milford had mentioned—Bailee’s child.
So, Milford was also helping Eileen deceive her?
Late at night, Milford returned from his part-time job, entering the house just before eleven o’clock, still burdened with a pile of homework to complete.
