Chapter 548
Besides, since Gabriela already bore the Curtis surname, Eileen might also prefer not to change it.
Stella thought that if the second child was a boy and would carry the Dawson surname, she would have no reason to change Gabriela’s surname back to Curtis.
After a moment of reflection, Stella closed the book. “Since this is your choice, I’ll respect it. But remember, you must honor your commitment: the next child must have the Dawson surname.”
“Alright,” Eileen said, her smile genuine. She was oblivious to the depth of Stella’s thoughts.
After some time spent playing, Gabriela still seemed uneasy in the new environment.
This noticeably dampened Stella’s good mood.
The lunch was soon ready, and everyone proceeded to the dining room.
The meal included several dishes specially prepared for babies by a chef Stella had hired.
Since Bryan planned to fly to Linder Land tonight, Eileen and Bryan decided to leave with Gabriela shortly after the meal.
While Stella was distracted by Gabriela, clearly reluctant to see her leave, Bryan spoke to Jarred. “It’s getting cold. The villa is too expansive for my grandmother to live alone. Try to persuade her to spend the winter at the temple on the mountain.”
Jarred laughed. “She found it too isolating up there before, completely cut off from the world with no updates. Now, with the little one around, I doubt she’ll consider going back.”
Observing Stella nearby, Bryan inquired, “How has she been doing lately?”
“Don’t worry. She’s healthy. The doctor has visited recently to check on her, and she’s eager to become stronger. She’s looking forward to taking Gabriela out for some fun when Gabriela is old enough to run around,” Jarred replied, his face breaking into a grin.
Stella cherished Bryan’s first child dearly.
After a while, Eileen and Bryan departed with Gabriela, leaving Stella with a deep sense of loss.
During the ride back, Gabriela fell asleep.
Uncharacteristically, she didn’t wake up even after they returned home, prompting Eileen to ask Ruby to take her to her room.
Eileen then went to the bedroom to prepare Bryan’s luggage.
“How long will you be away?” she inquired, eyeing the two suitcases, one notably larger than the other.
Bryan was seated on the bed. He supported himself with his hands and looked up at her. “Not for long. Just pack the essentials.”
Eileen chose the smaller suitcase, opening it to pack for Bryan.
“The weather in Linder Land is similar to here. Since the trip is brief, there’s no need for heavy clothing. If you find it cold, you can always buy some clothes there,” she said.
