She touched the space where her arm used to be and added, “I lost an arm, and now no man wants to marry me. I’m over thirty and still single. I saved him, and now he only trusts me. He could marry me to repay me.”
Eileen’s anger flared up, almost pushing her to the edge. But remembering that Zelda had indeed saved Bryan’s life, Eileen fought to keep her emotions in check.
She inhaled deeply and spoke softly, “I understand the sacrifice you made and that you’re not well-off. I’m willing to help you financially to improve your situation. However, marrying him isn’t an option for you. He’s already married.”
Eileen raised her chin, her expression firm. “I am his wife, and we have a daughter.”
“So what?” Zelda’s tone was indifferent. “He’s forgotten the past. Even though you’re his wife and you have a child together, it means nothing to him. I don’t care.”
“You may not care, but the law does!” Eileen’s sharp tone surprised the woman and caught Bryan’s attention.
Eileen took another deep breath to steady herself and continued in a low voice, “He’s married. If he were to marry you now, it would be considered a crime. Besides, you don’t even have his personal details. Do you want your children to be like him—unregistered and without any legal status?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Zelda replied with a casual shrug. “In this small town, we don’t need to register to get married. If we have a child in the future, I can just register it under my name.”
Eileen finally realized just how stubborn the woman in front of her was.
She weighed the idea of asking Raymond to find a way to take Bryan away from this small village. She knew that wouldn’t be difficult to arrange.
But… Bryan only trusted Zelda. If he were forced to leave now, it might seriously affect his health.
After a moment’s consideration, Eileen approached Bryan cautiously. “Hi. I know you might not remember me, and that’s okay. I’m here to help you remember. Since we’re strangers at the moment, let’s start with introductions.”

Watching Bryan intently, she added, “My husband has always been incredibly good to me. We have a lovely daughter named Gabriela. She’s at that charming age where she’s starting to climb around and sometimes says ‘Mommy.’ Gabriela has a father who loves her very much. I really hope that someday she can call him ‘Daddy’ and grow up with his love and care.”
Eileen’s voice trembled with emotion as she spoke.
Tears rolled down her cheeks, each one carrying the pain of her broken heart. Bryan remained unmoved, his attention absorbed in sorting the fish and shrimp, showing no sign of emotion.
Eileen covered her face with her hands, a deep sense of despair settling in her heart.

Bryan’s lips tightened as he turned and walked away. However, his health was steadily declining. Moving too quickly caused him to lose his balance, and he stumbled, falling sideways.
