Chapter 577
However, her actions had inadvertently led Bryan’s wife to him, and Bryan had deliberately avoided interacting with her.
Later on, she overheard a conversation between Josue and Bryan, and it became clear that Bryan was distancing himself to avoid burdening his wife.
Instantly, she felt a profound empathy toward Bryan, and her feelings for him deepened day by day.
Unfortunately, Bryan was already devoted to someone else.
But if she were to marry him, who knew what might happen then?
“But that woman claimed you two are legally married. If you marry my daughter, wouldn’t she be labeled a homewrecker? And wouldn’t you be guilty of bigamy?” Felipe voiced another concern.
Bryan’s lips moved slightly, his Adam’s apple shifting as he calmly responded, “We’re already divorced.”
At this revelation, hope flickered in Zelda’s eyes. They were divorced?
With that reassurance, she felt a sense of relief. There was nothing more to worry about.
As evening settled in, the sea breeze swept across the hills, cooling the small village significantly.
The night grew exceptionally cold, and the lack of heating or air conditioning made it difficult for Eileen to get comfortable.
Concerned that Gabriela might kick off her blanket and catch a cold, Eileen found herself barely sleeping, haunted by unsettling dreams.
In her dreams, she saw Bryan marrying Zelda, while she herself was swallowed by the cold sea.
She awoke around four in the morning. Perched by the window, she stared out at the dark landscape, lost in thought as the cold wind howled outside.
As dawn broke and the first light spread across the sea, Eileen snapped out of her reverie.
Before Gabriela stirred, Eileen freshened up and went downstairs to prepare breakfast.
Raymond, who was staying on the first floor, walked into the kitchen, scratching his back.
“Ms. Curtis, this place is really dreadful. It’s so cold and damp. Hey, what’s that on your neck?”
He noticed, as Eileen bowed her head, that her fair neck was covered in red spots.
When Eileen looked up, Raymond saw that the spots extended across her neck.
“Are you having an allergic reaction to something?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” Eileen responded, instinctively scratching at the spots.
Raymond quickly stopped her. “Don’t scratch. The doctor will be here soon to check on you. Also, we need to figure out how to convince Mr. Dawson to undergo a health check.”
Eileen nodded. “I have a plan. Just arrange for the doctor to come here.”
After speaking, she turned and headed upstairs. “I’ll check on Gabriela. Please inform everyone in the village to gather.”
With Ruby absent, the responsibility of caring for Gabriela fell solely on Eileen. With tasks awaiting her, she needed to wake Gabriela earlier than usual.
