In the evening, the rain finally stopped, and a rainbow formed under the setting sun. Eileen cleared the dirt and water from the yard and allowed Gabriela to ride her stroller outside for some fun.
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Jacob. Once the call connected, he quickly said, “The rainstorm caused a mudslide that collapsed the Dury family’s house. Bryan injured his leg and is getting treated in town.”
Jacob had thought for a long time before deciding to call Eileen.
After the rain eased, the ground behind the Dury family’s house started showing signs of instability, prompting a swift evacuation. Bryan got injured during the collapse while evacuating. By the time Jacob called Eileen, two hours had passed.
When Jacob went to make the call, Bryan was still unconscious. However, when Jacob returned, he found Bryan awake.
