Chapter 609
Zola’s parents had readily agreed. They demanded a substantial sum and allowed the Dawson family to take Zola away without any second thoughts.
Zola vividly remembered that scene. As a result, she harbored more resentment toward her parents than toward Brandon and Lydia. After squandering the money from selling Zola, her parents had plagued her again, incessantly demanding more money. Eventually, Zola had been driven to desperation. She had orchestrated a car accident and killed her parents.
Milford was the only family she had left. She hadn’t planned to associate with him, but when Bryan visited Wist Land, she acknowledged Milford to maintain contact with Bryan.
The information Raymond sent to Eileen included evidence that Zola had bribed a truck driver to murder her parents.
In the evening, Eileen went directly to Zola’s place. After knocking, she heard Zola’s voice from inside, “Leave the takeout at the door. I’ll get it myself.”
“It’s me. Open the door,” Eileen replied.
As soon as she finished speaking, she heard movement inside the room.
After a long pause, the door finally opened. In addition to Zola, a man was also inside the room. Wearing a vest, the man brushed past Eileen and exited without a word.
The air inside was thick with the unpleasant smell of hormones.
Zola, usually so confident and poised, now appeared disheveled, although her eyes still retained a hint of arrogance. She opened the window to let in some fresh air, sat down on the sofa, and lit a cigarette.
Once the smell began to dissipate, Eileen stepped inside and tossed a sealed bag onto the table in front of Zola.
“Eileen, have you been having a tough time lately? Are you afraid to face me?” Zola asked as she opened the bag. “So, you’re finally ready to confront me, huh? Why have you been such a coward?”

With her hands in her pockets, Eileen calmly let Zola speak her mind. She watched as Zola’s expression shifted when she clearly saw the contents of the sealed bag. A subtle smile spread across Eileen’s face.
“Consider yourself lucky that I’ve hesitated for so long, or you wouldn’t even be living the life you have now. Let’s make an agreement: give me Travis’s whereabouts, and I won’t hand the evidence over to the authorities,” Eileen said, her voice cold.
“What do you want with Travis?” Zola stood up, her eyes locking with Eileen’s. “What, are you planning to kill Travis to avenge Bryan? Even if you do, Bryan won’t come back! And you’ll end up in prison!”
Zola’s words seemed to be an attempt to dissuade Eileen, but the thought of it all exhilarated her. She continued, “If you really go through with it, I won’t mind if you take the evidence to the cops. Maybe we can still be friends… behind bars!”
She seemed unhinged now, possibly due to the overwhelming circumstances that had drained her will to live.
“You’ve lost completely. Don’t try to drag me down with you. Where is Travis?” Eileen demanded, her tone as icy as ever.
“I have no idea where he is, but he’s been asking about you through me.” Zola sat back down. “He seems interested in you. Should I pass along a message telling him you’re looking for him?”
Eileen wasn’t sure if Travis would hide further upon learning that she was looking for him, nor did she understand why he had asked Zola about her.
