Eileen had feared Zola might have fled, but to her surprise, the police brought her back to the station shortly thereafter. Eileen had been waiting at the station for a long time. “Take her away,” the officer in charge ordered. His team escorted Zola out and handed Eileen a mobile phone. “Ms. Curtis, this is Zola’s phone. We’ve unlocked it.”
“Thank you,” Eileen replied, accepting the phone.
She scrolled through it, finding that there were few saved contacts. Most of the call records were from unfamiliar numbers. Several text messages were sent from an unknown number, and from the conversation, it seemed to be Travis.
It had been days since Zola and Travis had last communicated. Eileen placed the phone in her bag and walked out of the police station. As she stepped outside, she saw Bryan, who had just gotten out of a car by the roadside.
Bryan walked over slowly, his deep eyes fixed on her.
“Why are you here?” Eileen asked, waiting for him to approach. “Are you worried after hearing that Zola was arrested?”
“No,” Bryan replied, glancing briefly at the police station’s entrance. “Something happened to Milford. Denzel called Jacob.”

“What happened to Milford?” Eileen asked, her voice sharp with concern.
Jacob rubbed his head and explained, “The manager of the hotel called the cops, claiming that a minor had been drugged and was about to be assaulted. The police arrived quickly and found Adalina and Milford together in bed.
They notified Denzel. Denzel fetched his daughter and demanded an explanation from the police.
He called me, stressing that he needed to prioritize his daughter’s well-being.
Denzel’s message was clear: he held Milford responsible.
Shortly after, the officer handling Milford’s case arrived and provided Eileen and the others with the details.
The hotel owner claimed that Adalina had been drugged and brought to the hotel by Milford and Zola. However, there was no video evidence because the hotel’s surveillance system was broken. They did manage to capture a grainy video on the street showing two people supporting another, but the identities were unclear. The three individuals were far from the camera, and the footage was taken in the dark.
The hotel owner had assumed the three had drunk too much and decided to stay the night, thinking nothing of it. However, after Zola had left, the hotel owner had sensed something was amiss and called the police.
When the police arrived, they found Milford and Adalina in bed together, both undressed, and Adalina was immediately crying. Milford reeked of alcohol and appeared heavily intoxicated. He only sobered up after being taken to the police station.
“According to Milford, he vaguely remembers meeting his classmate, Adalina, and his sister, Zola. Because he was drunk, Zola and Adalina took him to a budget hotel. We heard that Zola was arrested here and came to collect evidence,” the police officer handling Milford’s case explained.
