“What will you do?” Eileen placed her bag on the table, pulled out a chair, and took a seat.
Jolted, Denise spun around and trembled. “Why… why are you here?”
“Why can’t I be here?” Eileen questioned, lifting her gaze to Denise. “Besides, if anyone should be asking for the villa, it should be me. Why did you go to my mother? She isn’t your mother, so she owes you nothing.”
“You…” Denise fumed. “I’m just stating the facts. You’ve showered Ruby with money, and she’ll pass it on to her daughter. If you give it to me, at least I’ll give it to Roderick! Why are you helping outsiders?”
Eileen remained composed as she responded, “She raised me, never asks for anything, and always puts me first. I will give her everything. How is that any of your concern?”
Despite being in a private room, Denise’s booming voice disrupted the tranquility of the shop.
A waiter knocked on the door, asking if they needed anything.
“She doesn’t know how to appreciate fine coffee. Just serve her a glass of water; she can’t afford the coffee here anyway. Also, keep an eye on us from the door in case I lose my temper during our argument. I have family to look after, so I can’t risk doing anything illegal. Please step in if necessary.” Eileen flashed a polite smile at the waiter, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Denise’s face flushed with embarrassment from the mockery. Eileen was clearly mocking her for never having coffee before.
Confused and not wanting to offend Eileen, the waiter hesitated but ultimately decided to stand guard by the door.
Once the door was shut, Denise continued to glare at it. Eileen tapped the table twice and warned Denise, “If you’re not worried about looking foolish, feel free to keep causing a scene. It doesn’t bother me.”
“Why should I care about that? I’m no celebrity. But what about you? Aren’t you worried about people finding out about this?” Denise scowled and sharpened her tone. “Imagine if people found out you live comfortably while your real mother can only…”

Her patience wearing thin, Eileen interjected, “Stop with the threats. What did you use to threaten my mother into buying you a house?”
“I didn’t threaten her,” Denise lied smoothly. “She should’ve seen this coming. She can’t depend on her daughter, so she has to rely on mine.”
“I’m not here to hear your lies. If you don’t come clean, consider this the last time you’ll see me.” Eileen narrowed her eyes at Denise and added, “Honestly, my mother only has my secondary card, and she hasn’t spent a single penny from it except for her basic living costs. The secondary card has a spending limit, so she can’t buy you a villa. If you want one, I’m the only one who can foot the bill. If you don’t come clean, I won’t give you any money.”
Denise wasn’t foolish; she could tell Eileen was probing to discover how she had threatened Ruby.
“I didn’t threaten her. Even if you ask, I won’t tell,” Denise sat down, averting her gaze. “I have nothing more to say to you. You should leave.”
