“I noticed the packed suitcase at the entrance. It seems like you’re planning to join them,” Raymond said. “Looks like you’re traveling with a lot of cash.”
Truett stiffened at Raymond’s words, then managed a forced smile. “I’m a bit old school, you know. Unlike you young folks, I don’t rely much on cards and mobile payments. I tend to keep cash on hand.”
Raymond took a sip of his water, his gaze steady. “Just the two of us here, Mr. Gomez. No need for pretenses. The cash in the suitcase— is it from Brandon? How much money did he give you?”
Truett hesitated.
“We can offer you double. Just tell me the truth,” Raymond interjected.
Tempted by the prospect of doubling his earnings, Truett trembled, his voice wavering as he spoke.
“Raymond, this isn’t a joke. You don’t even know what Brandon promised. Can you truly double it?”
“I was merely testing you, but you spilled the beans quite easily,” Raymond revealed a recording device from his pocket. “You know, if this ends up with the cops, you’re looking at a charge, right?”
“Don’t be like that, Raymond,” Truett’s voice darkened as he was cornered. “What is it you need to know? I’ll tell you everything.”
Sensing that things were unfolding too smoothly, Raymond grew cautious. “What exactly are Brandon and Jonathan concocting? Apart from leaking our core tech, what else did they task you with? How much did they pay you?”
After a brief pause, overwhelmed by the flurry of questions, Truett responded, “Their plan was to corner Ms. Curtis and coerce her into surrendering her shares in both EB Group and Apex Group. They gave me a million for that. And besides spilling product details, they instructed me to keep you tied up until at least half past seven in the evening.”
Earlier, Raymond had been tailing Truett for some time. Truett had driven all over town for a couple of hours, occasionally stopping to grab some food and beverages. He had also paused to visit the restroom. By the time he returned home, the clock had struck half past seven in the evening. Now, it was already seven forty-two.

A frown formed on Raymond’s face as he rose quickly from his seat. “Damn it, what are they planning to do to Curtis?”
“I’m not sure of the exact plans. But Brandon has his sights set on the groups founded by Bryan, while Jonathan has his eyes on Eileen,” Truett said.
It was clear that Eileen was the focal point. Both EB Group and Apex Group were under Eileen’s control, and she was Bryan’s wife. Even though Eileen had taken multiple bodyguards to the hotel today, it might not be enough. This was a trap within a trap!
Upon realizing the imminent danger, Raymond dashed out of the house and tried calling Eileen, but he got no response. His anxiety was palpable as he began to sweat heavily. Left with no other option, he decided to call Josue and Jacob.
Meanwhile, Josue and Jacob were in Bryan’s hospital room. They had just placed a cigarette between Bryan’s fingers and an unopened bottle of red wine in his other hand. It was as if they were having drinks and chatting like before.
