Suppressing the urge to rush to Eileen’s side, Bryan turned his attention to Jonathan. He strode over and delivered a sharp kick, sending Jonathan crashing to the floor.
Without a word, Bryan unleashed a torrent of punches and kicks on Jonathan, his anger evident. “I told you she’s mine! Don’t ever touch her!” Bryan growled fiercely as he continued to beat Jonathan with increasing force.
Jonathan soon began to cough up blood.
Josue and Jacob rushed to Bryan’s side to stop him from actually killing Jonathan. “That shameless bastard, Brandon has fled!”
“Go after him!” Bryan growled through clenched teeth before walking toward Eileen.
He quickly removed his coat and knelt beside her, draping it over her with care.
Eileen leaned into him, pressing her face against his chest.
Warm blood seeped onto Bryan’s skin, feeling like liquid fire that could sear through his flesh. It made his heart ache with a profound, almost unbearable intensity.
“Where does it hurt?” Bryan swept Eileen into his arms, his voice laced with concern as he carried her toward the exit. “I’ll take you to the hospital now.”
Eileen gripped his arm, shaking her head. “No more hospitals, please. Let’s just go home.”
The hospital was a place of pain for her, a constant reminder of loss. She had felt desperation because of Ruby and Bryan being in the hospital before. The very word made her shudder.
Bryan’s grip tightened around her waist, his eyes searching hers for a moment before he relented. “Alright, we’re not going to the hospital.”
As Bryan carried Eileen past Jacob, Jacob draped his suit over Bryan’s shoulders. The sight of Eileen and Bryan exiting the hotel was striking—Bryan’s broad back covered by the suit, and Eileen wearing the hospital gown he had given her.

Gently, Bryan settled Eileen into the car. Before she could get comfortable, a screech of tires and a sickening thud ripped through the air.
Eileen and Bryan turned their heads toward the source of the noise, only to witness Brandon engulfed in a fiery explosion. Brandon had fled recklessly into traffic, collided with a car, and been thrown into a live power line. His body sparked and convulsed before falling limp onto the pavement.
“He’s…” Eileen’s voice caught in her throat as she turned to Bryan. Brandon was, after all, Bryan’s father.
Bryan’s knuckles whitened as he gripped the door, but he turned his gaze away quickly. “He got what he deserved. He owed my mother a life, and now, he’s paid his debt.”
Bryan then leaned in to unbuckle Eileen’s seatbelt, slid behind the wheel, and sped away, leaving the gruesome scene behind.
Outside, the city was a symphony of honking and hustle. But inside the car, it was quiet.
Eileen almost felt like this wasn’t real. She leaned back, her eyes glued to Bryan. Bryan had tossed his suit jacket in the back, leaving his upper body bare. The streetlights painted him in shadows and highlights, all sculpted muscle and raw masculinity.
