Chapter 713
“I’ve had surveillance on Judie, but nothing out of the ordinary has come up,” Raymond reported.
Before Eileen could respond, her phone rang. It was a call from Roderick. She answered swiftly, and his voice came through, urgent and anxious.
“Eileen, Mom has been arrested by the police. She managed to acquire the money to buy the apartment, and now they’re accusing her of fraud. It has to be a mistake—she’s not capable of orchestrating this.”
Roderick, who knew Denise well, found it hard to believe.
After a brief pause, Eileen replied, “She might not be capable on her own, but consider if there’s someone around her who could pull this off—someone she would listen to without question.”
Hearing this, realization dawned on Roderick. Since Judie’s pregnancy, Denise had grown more compliant to her. They frequently whispered to each other, clearly hiding something from him.
“Calm down and talk this through. Don’t frighten the child,” Eileen advised, knowing that Roderick’s silence indicated he was thinking of Judie.
Roderick ended the call abruptly, his impulsiveness surprising Eileen. After all, this was a serious issue. If it wasn’t resolved, Denise could face a life sentence.
Roderick went upstairs and entered the bedroom, surprising Judie, who was cradling the baby.
“Come outside with me,” Roderick demanded, his tone more furious than usual.
Judie frowned, unwilling to comply. “I’m with the baby. Whatever it is, we can discuss it later.”

“The nanny can take care of the baby. Come out now!” Roderick ordered, instructing the nanny to take care of the child as he forcibly dragged Judie out of the bedroom.
The sudden commotion caused the baby to cry, prompting the nanny to hold him and calm him down.
Roderick yanked Judie down the stairs and flung her onto the sofa.
“Judie, tell me the truth. Where did Mom get that money?” Roderick glared at her with fury, making Judie feel a bit intimidated.
Sitting upright, Judie retorted defiantly, “How would I know? Your mom found the place and said it was two thousand dollars a month. It seemed like a good deal, so I rented it. How was I supposed to know she bought it?”
“Do you think I’m an idiot?” Roderick shouted, his eyes blazing with anger. “If you don’t tell me, I swear I’ll kill you!”
While speaking, Roderick raised his hand, but upon seeing Judie’s trembling expression, he couldn’t bring himself to hit her. Initially startled, Judie quickly regained her arrogance. Seeing that Roderick couldn’t bring himself to strike her, she stood on tiptoe, pressed her head against his palm, and said, “Come on! Slap me! Roderick, you’re heartless. I just gave birth to your son, and now you’re trying to hit me! Do I deserve this? After all the tough years I’ve spent with you, now that you’re wealthy, you find a reason to—Ouch!”
