Chapter 747
Eileen, momentarily stunned, struggled to keep her irritation in check.
Kinsey unexpectedly nudged her under the table, startling her. She looked at him, and he gave her a quick nod.
Eileen then set aside her fork, stood up, and offered Bryan a smile. “Alright.”
Eileen took Gabriela from Bryan. The baby stirred slightly, opened her eyes for a moment, and then went back to sleep.
Bryan resumed his seat and ate swiftly, while Conroy spoke in hushed tones about a collaboration, likely to keep it from Eileen’s ears.
Conroy felt reassured as Bryan also kept his voice low.
During the ten-minute meal, Bryan didn’t expose Conroy’s identity as the CEO of the company to Eileen.
Once the meal was over, Bryan quickly stood up, took Gabriela back from Eileen, and returned to listen to Conroy.
After finishing his meal, Kinsey cleared his tray and joined Bryan in the conversation.
Eileen continued eating while Lenny said, “Oh my gosh! Mr. Dawson is practically a legend. According to the news, he’s died and resurrected eight times!”
“What?” Eileen stared at her with a stunned expression.
Lenny nodded. “The first time was a car accident where he was saving his wife. It made headlines, and they weren’t even married at that time. Then, before their marriage, he went through a period of starvation that landed him in the hospital. Well, then there was a third time…”

After a pause, she continued, “The fourth time was when he was thrown off a plane by some villain while his wife and child were aboard, making it a very perilous situation. There also came a time when he supposedly died and then recovered his memory, which counts as a rebirth, right? And after that, he had surgery and took time to heal.”
The news stories, which were already a mix of truth and exaggeration, had turned into outright fabrications. Now, Eileen found the tales amusing and shook her head.
“Are there more?”
“Yes, he’s alright now, but his wife has passed away,” Lenny replied.
Eileen was so shocked that she choked, grabbing a tissue to cover her mouth as she coughed violently.
“You find it too, don’t you?” Lenny continued. “After surviving all those trials, losing his wife must have been devastating. You could count it as another rebirth, right? He has to live for his child.”
Eileen massaged her temples and resumed eating.
The ridiculous stories made her need an extra bite to steady her nerves. She hadn’t anticipated the public perceiving their life this way.
Ever since Bryan took the reins of the company, she had kept a low profile. Although there were plenty of rumors about their relationship being broken, this was the first she had heard that she had “passed away.”
“You should stop digging into Mr. Dawson. Concentrate on Kinsey,” Eileen said, wanting to avoid any more stories about Bryan and her.
