Eileen smiled, pocketed her phone, and started to work. At ten in the morning, she got a text from Bryan informing her that Conroy had secured the rental house next door.
Bryan planned to sign the lease in the afternoon. He would then pack his belongings and move in by evening.
He explicitly urged Eileen, “Make sure to sign up to take care of Gabriela. Take the initiative.”
His message conveyed his concern that she might mess it up. Eileen chuckled upon reading Bryan’s message. When Savanna inquired who was interested in volunteering, Eileen quickly stepped forward.
It was unclear how long Bryan would be with the company. If he were to stay for an extended period, it meant the caregiver would need to commit for several months and might face the risk of losing their job upon returning to their regular role, considering everyone here was just a regular employee. Thus, those who volunteered had personal motivations.
Some viewed it as an opportunity to climb the social ladder, while others, needing the money, were drawn by the temporary high pay. Unlike them, Eileen’s sole motive was her desire to look after Gabriela.

At three in the afternoon, only the two of them had signed up in the administrative department. Together, they ascended to the top floor, submitted their paperwork, and participated in a half-day orientation. They were interviewed one by one.

After finishing work, Eileen evaded her followers and drove straight to WaterEdge Villas. Bryan had distracted Conroy and Kinsey so she could enter the villa area unnoticed. After shaking off the tails, she swiftly found the specific building Bryan had directed her to. Unexpectedly, Eileen spotted a familiar figure within the community.
A woman walked hurriedly with a shopping bag from across a flowerbed. The woman looked recognizable from behind, but Eileen couldn’t identify her immediately. Her car surged forward, and she took another glance in the rearview mirror.
“Delores?”
Eileen hit the brakes and peered again. The woman had vanished from the street, but a shadow slipped into the villa nearby. She bit her lip, concerned for a moment, then dialed Juno and inquired, “Have you located Delores?”
“No,” Julia responded. “I’ll find her, whatever it takes.” He was clearly still searching for her.
Uncertain if she had seen correctly, Eileen ended the call after a brief conversation and headed home.
Later, Bryan returned with Gabriela. Eileen felt like an intruder all night, anxious that Conroy might appear unexpectedly. She knew she had to endure until morning. Once dawn broke, she would no longer fear Conroy’s potential visit.
Nonetheless, if Conroy discovered she was living next door to him, he might choose to relocate overnight. Jessica had applied to take care of Gabriela.
