Chapter 754
Jessica abruptly stood, her chair scraping loudly against the floor.
“You…” she began.
“It appears Gabriela has made her choice,” Bryan said as he stood. He looked at Eileen. “You’ll need to move to my house. Is there any problem with that?”
“Mr. Dawson, I have no objections,” Eileen responded, shaking her head.
Bryan looked pleased and nodded. “Great. Take Gabriela to my office after work. We’ll get your things and head straight to my place.”
“I might need to return to the executive department to grab a few things. My bag and cell phone are still at my desk,” Eileen said.
“Well, go back and pack your things. Come to my office afterward,” Bryan instructed as he walked over, lifted Gabriela, and exited the room first.
Eileen was about to follow when she heard Jessica say, “Eileen, you stay. Everyone else can return to their stations.”
The atmosphere immediately became charged with tension. The others, not wanting to be involved, quickly dispersed.
Jessica shut the meeting room door, turned, and crossed her arms. “You’re not suited for this job. Go to Mr. Dawson’s office and decline it now,” she said to Eileen.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Marshall. I’m capable of handling the job,” Eileen responded politely.
Perhaps Jessica misunderstood her words, or perhaps she simply refused to accept them. Jessica stated more directly, “I don’t care whether you think you can do it or not. I want you to go to Dawson right now and turn down the job.”

“Why?” Eileen inquired.
“Because you took the position I wanted!” Jessica, seeing that Eileen didn’t grasp her point, stated bluntly, “You need to stay away from Mr. Dawson. I want him!”
“Let me remind you that Mr. Dawson is a married man with a child,” Eileen said, taken aback by Jessica’s intentions.
Did Conroy intend to collaborate with Bryan, while Jessica harbored personal motives?
Jessica grew impatient. “You’re so irritating! I don’t care if he’s married. I want you to reject the job!”
“I understand your point, but it seems you don’t grasp mine,” Eileen stated firmly. “I refuse to do that.”
Her last sentence echoed clearly through the silent meeting room. Jessica, unaccustomed to such a direct refusal, was momentarily taken aback.
Eileen gave a slight nod and said, “Ms. Marshall, I’m going to pack my belongings now.”
With that, she walked past Jessica and exited the meeting room. The sound of the door shutting snapped Jessica out of her daze, her face flushing with anger.
The news that Eileen had been chosen quickly spread throughout the department. As Eileen entered the executive area, Lenny hurried over.
“You’re incredible. I thought you were just there for fun, but you actually secured the job. Did she give you any trouble?” Lenny asked. It was evident to everyone that Jessica was very determined to get this position.
“She suggested I resign voluntarily, but I refused her,” Eileen replied honestly.
