Eileen chuckled. She turned around and said seriously, “They say Kinsey got married a few months ago, and his wife had a baby less than two months after that.”
“Really?” Bryan frowned. “I didn’t know that.”
Kinsey’s marriage had been rushed and low-key, not widely covered by the media. Therefore, the news had remained relatively contained within the company.
Suddenly, Eileen had a realization. She stepped out of the villa to take a look and said, “Yesterday, I saw a woman carrying a shopping bag. She looked a lot like Dolores. She headed into Kinsey’s villa.”
“Could that woman be Kinsey’s wife?”
“Kinsey is coming to dinner here tonight. If he’s really married, he might bring his wife along,” Bryan said.
“What’s the matter?” Bryan turned to Eileen with a quizzical look. “Are you curious about Kinsey’s wife?”
Eileen had been finding many people intriguing. The person she ought to be most interested in was right in front of her, yet she had overlooked him.
After changing her shoes, Eileen walked into the room carrying Gabriela. “Certainly, befriending Kinsey’s wife could give me insight into Kinsey’s and Conroy’s backgrounds, right?”
“You should try understanding me better,” Bryan said coldly from behind her.
Eileen halted, feeling a chill as she held Gabriela. She turned to look at him. With his hands in his pockets, Bryan approached her with an icy demeanor.

“You should see how long you can endure this kind of life.”
“This kind of life?” Eileen furrowed her brow.
“What are you dissatisfied with? We always have sex at night. Don’t you feel we’re close enough already?” he said, his tone blunt.
Eileen felt she hadn’t done anything wrong. Given their need to maintain a professional distance during the day, their evenings were a stark contrast once they were behind closed doors… Eileen felt they had been very close lately.
“You think I only enjoy being with you at night?” Bryan’s expression darkened. As Eileen set Gabriela down, he quickly approached, wrapped his arms around her slender waist, and pulled her close. “I don’t want a relationship that’s hidden in the shadows. I want us to be a couple openly during the day too.”
His eyes held serious intensity. Suddenly, Eileen felt she might have wronged him. How could she have misjudged him so?
Yet, this wasn’t entirely her fault. In her mind, his gentle daytime demeanor was overshadowed by his indulgent nocturnal persona.
“I’ll resolve this as quickly as I can,” Eileen said, though her voice lacked conviction.
Bryan snorted and gestured for her to head upstairs. “Change into something comfortable. Raymond will be delivering dinner soon, and Conroy and Kinsey are expected to be here in half an hour.”
It had been a while since Eileen had worn a business suit. Lately, she had found the formal attire constricting and uncomfortable during her time at the VO Group.
She returned to her room, took a shower, tied her hair in a bun, and changed into a set of casual clothes.
