Once Eileen had left, Jessica said, “Mr. Dawson, you see now that Eileen can’t properly look after your child. She made her cry like this!”
“Whether she can take care of my child well or not isn’t for you to say. I know this well,” Bryan replied coldly.
Jessica knew that Bryan had been watching Eileen care for Gabriela daily, and she realized that her single comment wasn’t going to alter his opinion.
She quickly added, “I brought some gifts for the child, but Eileen didn’t let her use them, which made her upset and cry.”
Bryan was skeptical of her explanation. “From now on, you don’t need to bring anything for my daughter. Now, go to Mr. Finch’s office and reflect on your actions. Inform Mr. Finch that if my daughter is disturbed again, I will not continue to work with the VQ Group.”
The job was merely a cover for Bryan; he was primarily occupied with tasks for the Group. However, given that Conroy relied heavily on him for this project, he believed he could use this to his advantage.
Jessica wanted to respond but was silenced by Bryan’s stern look. Reluctantly, she exited and made her way directly to Conroy’s office—not to reflect on her actions, but to vent her frustrations.
“Eileen is so irritating; that child listens to her every word, and it drives me crazy!” Jessica said.
“Jessica, based on what you’ve described… Mr. Dawson clearly values Eileen. Why not wait and see if Eileen can really win him over? Her ability to care for the child is a big plus in his eyes. If we can resolve any issues with her and keep Mr. Dawson happy, it’ll be beneficial for the VQ Group. Then you might…” Conroy said, focusing solely on securing the VQ Group’s interests. Dolores hadn’t expected to encounter Julio at the grocery store. His car was parked along the curb, and he was leaning against it, smoking. Upon seeing her, he extinguished his cigarette and approached her directly.
“Did you change your number to avoid me?”
“Since you know I’m avoiding you, why bother approaching me? Isn’t this just like what I did to you before?” Dolores’ lips twisted into a slight sneer.

“It’s entirely your issue if you despise me. It’s none of my business,” Julio’s voice was icy, his steely gaze capturing the fragility of Dalores’ features as he arched an eyebrow.
“Remember when I urged you to leave and you chose to stay? What was going through your mind then?”
Dalores clenched her jaw, her eyes blazing as she met his gaze. “I must have lost my senses then. I couldn’t abandon you in peril. I was eager to shield you from harm. Had you been upfront about your feud with the Ferguson family before, I wouldn’t have stubbornly stayed. So, what’s your angle now? Do you want to hear me rail against you further, or push me to despise you more deeply?”
