Eileen’s ears turned red. She quickly turned around and left with Gabriela in her arms. Several hours later, they reached the Vazquez Mansion.
As Eileen returned, the numerous servants of the Vazquez family greeted her, though they also looked wary of her.
Eileen brushed off the servants’ wary glances. After explaining that Gabriela was her cousin’s child, she proceeded directly to meet with Leyla.
She found an excuse to dismiss Tracey, and once alone with Leyla, she eagerly got to the heart of the matter.
“Grandma, are you aware that Conroy has an illegitimate daughter?”
“I’ve heard rumors about it before,” Leyla responded, her eyes sparkling with interest. “Have you discovered the identity of Conroy’s daughter and obtained proof?”
Eileen nodded.
“My Eileen, why are you so amazing?” Leyla took Gabriela in her arms and affectionately pinched Eileen’s cheek. “You can present the evidence to Conroy and urge him to marry the mother of his child. Then your task will be complete.”

“But there is one more thing I’m curious about.” Eileen hesitated before speaking, fearing Leyla’s potential distress. “Why is it that I have no blood relation to Conroy or his family?”
Leyla’s eyes trembled, and she immediately looked away. The room fell into dead silence.
Eileen’s frown deepened.
“Grandma, the Vazquez family’s esteemed reputation spans centuries. When it comes down to it, you prioritize our family’s honor, ensuring my mother’s rightful place in the ancestral tomb.”
Leyla replied, “Eileen, it doesn’t matter to me whether the Vazquez family continues or not. But the Vazquez family has always had a good reputation in Alverton. It has existed for hundreds of years in a magnificent way. I hope our legacy doesn’t end in disgrace.”
Leyla gently patted the back of Eileen’s hand and continued, “But the family reputation is far inferior to your mother’s. It’s more important to move your mother’s body back to the tomb of our family’s ancestors.”

Eileen remained silent, letting Leyla come to her own decision.
