“If you go there, don’t think you’ll be able to see Maximo. He seldom comes back from work at VQ Group, but his wife is more arrogant than he is. You’ll have to be more intimidating than them.”
“You’re Bryan’s wife, after all. I believe you can handle this!” Leyla coached Eileen, her fists clenched. It was clear she had endured a lot from Maximo and his family over the years.
“Don’t worry, Grandma. I’ve got this.” Eileen paused and then added, “I’ll film the whole process when I’m there. You’ll see me put them in their place.”
“Alright,” Leyla agreed. “Take Bryan with you.”
Eileen shook her head firmly. “No. If he comes, he’ll take control of the situation instead of me. I need to do this alone.”
After last night, Eileen was furious about what Conroy and Gianna had done. Conroy and Gianna messing with her was one thing, but going after Leyla? That had crossed the line. Leyla had endured so much just to survive this long.
Taking down Conroy and Gianna was just the start. To truly lead the Vazquez family, she needed to win over its members. She saw going to Maximo’s place as an opportunity to make her presence known.
Bryan leaned in and whispered in Eileen’s ear, “Just… be careful, okay?”
“Relax. I’ll be back in one piece. I might even come back tougher.” Eileen playfully punched the air. “Stay in touch,” Bryan said, turning back to feed Gabriela.

Once they finished eating, Leyla stopped a servant from clearing the table. “Leave it,” she said sharply. “Conroy and Gianna still haven’t eaten. From now on, they get the leftovers.”
The servant quickly stepped back, her heart pounding as she glanced nervously at Conroy and Gianna.
Leyla found someone trustworthy to help Eileen invite people to the wedding. Meanwhile, Bryan had the bodyguards keeping a close eye on Conroy and Gianna. The pair would be stuck in the living room after their meal, not even allowed back to their room.
“My phone’s dead,” Conroy said. “There’s a ton of stuff I need to handle at the company. I can’t delay work at VQ Group, or the company will suffer losses.”
Bryan didn’t even turn around as he carried Gabriela away. “The VQ Group belongs to the Vazquez family, not you,” he said coldly. “You don’t need to worry about it. It’s none of your business.”
His voice trailed off, leaving Conroy and Gianna staring at his retreating back.
Gianna glared at the leftovers on the table and stormed into the living room. She would never eat leftovers!
Conroy had also lost his appetite. He trailed after Gianna, muttering, “This is your fault! If you hadn’t made me come back last night, none of this would’ve happened!”
“Yali, are you blaming me now?” Gianna hissed, barely holding back her rage. “You’re the one who provided the evidence! Look at how smug Leyla is now!”
“She has every right to be,” Conroy shot back. “You don’t understand how powerful Mr. Dawson is.”
