“Let’s be friends?” Tilda extended her hand toward Eileen.
Eileen’s eyes landed on the elegant timepiece on Tilda’s wrist. Its value and sophisticated style gave the impression that Tilda was either rich or from a powerful family.
She looked up and asked, “Are you from the Aston family?”
Tilda withdrew her hand, her brow furrowing in displeasure. “You’re smart, huh?”
Eileen was speechless. “Smart people are boring.” Turning her gaze away, Tilda added, “I suppose we won’t be friends, then. Honestly, I don’t care about being friends. I just want to observe you up close and see what kind of person you really are.”
Eileen was unsure if Tilda had figured out what kind of person she was. But through their short exchange, Eileen had already formed a fairly accurate impression of Tilda’s character. Tilda spoke the local language fluently but with a distinct foreign accent. Her tone was a little funny, and her words were also amusing.
“If you want to be my friend, I don’t mind,” Eileen said, looking up as she said it without looking up.
“I’m willing to consider being friends with you, but only if you agree not to officially become a member of the Aston family or harm my family.”

Tilda replied bluntly, “Jessica told me about it. She also said that you kicked her father out of the family. Her father has lived a miserable life since.”
Eileen didn’t know how to react to her honesty.
Tilda continued, “According to Jessica, you married into wealth and are now in control of the Vazquez family. You don’t need to covet the Aston family’s assets, right? Just don’t do that.”
Eileen felt Tilda was being too blunt. She finally replied, worried, “I have no desire to claim the Aston family’s assets. And please, keep this between us. Your father, Keith, still doesn’t know that I’m his daughter. I can promise I won’t contact him unless he learns about this.”
She feared that as soon as Tilda returned home, she would directly say, “Dad, please don’t give the family property to Eileen.” Then, her relationship with Keith would be exposed. After all, Keith was her biological father, a kind and refined individual, and she had clearly felt an instant sense of connection with him. He was the man that Dottie had loved her whole life, after all.
