Conroy froze and then slowly lowered himself back onto the bed.
“Then how long do I have to stay here?”
“Why the rush?” Gianna replied. “As long as you have health issues, you can remain here indefinitely. It buys us time. Eileen can’t keep those workers waiting forever. She’ll eventually pay them off and lose interest in holding you responsible. Then, the problem is solved!”
It sounded simple, but Conroy knew it would be a long, tedious process. Yet, with no better options presenting themselves, he resigned himself to endure.
Still, the seed of suspicion had been planted in his mind. Conroy began to scrutinize Gianna’s every move in secret, searching for any sign of betrayal.
Back in the car, Eileen couldn’t contain her laughter. Her eyes sparkled as she gazed at Bryan, his face bathed in the warm glow of sunlight.
Bryan’s smile graced his features as he started the engine. Without taking his eyes off the road, he asked, “When did you come up with such a devious plan?”
“Devious?” Eileen huffed, a note of displeasure in her voice. “I’m simply employing a clever strategy to drive a wedge between them.”
Bryan nodded with a thoughtful expression, giving a thumbs-up. “That makes sense, but your tricks still have a few kinks to iron out.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” Eileen replied, her gaze drifting out the window as her thoughts raced. “Just wait and see—I’ve got another card up my sleeve.”

They drove to a supermarket, stocking up on groceries. As they exited the supermarket, a billboard near the entrance caught their attention. Eileen’s eyes sparkled with inspiration. She nudged Bryan’s arm. “Head back to the car. I need to go back to the supermarket again.”
Above the underground market, she discovered a print shop. There, she crafted several flyers advertising villas for sale, cleverly including Jessica’s phone number and marking the property as belonging to her parents. She embellished the flyers with photos from her recent visit to Conroy’s home.
She posted her handiwork on the billboard and scattered more around Conroy’s villa and the gated community’s entrance. She had strategically lowered the price by two million, ensuring a quick response. Soon, Jessica’s phone buzzed.
“Hello, Miss Jessica Marshall? I’m a neighbor. Is it true your parents are selling their villa?”
Jessica, mid-dinner with a friend, furrowed her brow in confusion. “I think you have the wrong number.”
“No, no,” the caller replied. “Your number’s on the billboard. It says your parents urgently need to sell the villa.”
A few seconds passed as Jessica tried to piece everything together. Were Conroy and Gianna planning to sell their villa? Jessica asked the caller to add her on WhatsApp. After hanging up, she requested to see the flyer, and when it came through, her suspicions were confirmed—it was indeed Conroy and Gianna’s villa!
Seeing the names of Gianna and Conroy on the paper, Jessica instinctively assumed they truly intended to sell the villa and had entrusted her with the task.
