No one had expected the old woman to actually wake up.

She’d always been health-conscious, often watching videos on how to prevent heart attacks. The moment she collapsed, she recognized the signs of a sudden cardiac event. Even though someone in the crowd had dialed for an ambulance right away, the vehicle was stuck in traffic. By the time Caitlin arrived, seven or eight minutes had already slipped by. If Caitlin had hesitated for even a second, she wouldn’t have made it.
Even now, as she lay awake, the memory sent a chill through her.
So when Caitlin administered the first needle, the old woman knew she’d met a savior.
After thanking Caitlin, she tried to sit up, struggling to push herself off the ground.

A few minutes later, Caitlin gently helped her up, supporting her as she rose to her feet.
The old woman looked at Caitlin, her eyes filled with gratitude and admiration. While she’d been unconscious, she’d heard the whispers-some accusing her of faking, others too afraid to try and help. Only Caitlin had stepped forward.
If not for Caitlin, she would’ve died there on the street.
“Kind soul, my name is Irene Chatham. May I ask your name?” Irene said, her voice trembling with emotion.
“Kensington,” Caitlin replied quietly.
Irene gave a deep, heartfelt bow. “Miss Kensington, I will never forget what you did for me. Please, would you let me thank you properly? If you’d be willing to share your address, I’d love to visit and express my gratitude in person p>
Her words were sincere; she truly owed Caitlin her life. When she’d heard the ambulance was stuck, she’d already braced herself for the end. The golden window for a heart attack was so brief, and she’d thought her time was up.
But Caitlin had given her a second chance there was no other way to describe it.
Caitlin stood there, watching Irene with a gentle smile. Though she looked no older than seventeen or eighteen, something about her presence commanded respect-worldly, yet untouched by cynicism. A rarity, indeed.
“Lady Irene, you’re far too kind,” Caitlin said softly. “As a doctor, it’s my duty to help people. I only did what anyone in my position should have done. There’s really no need to thank me.” She quickly packed her things, then added, “But please, remember-don’t exert yourself. Wait here for the ambulance to arrive. I have something else I need to attend to, so I’ll be going now p>
“Miss Kensington, wait! You haven’t given me your address or even a phone number!” Irene called after her, taking a step forward before remembering she couldn’t move too quickly. She had no choice but to stay put and watch Caitlin disappear into the crowd.
About ten minutes later, the ambulance finally arrived.
Once inside, Irene was taken straight to the hospital for further evaluation.
Larkin Chatham rushed into the hospital, his secretary in tow, after receiving the call about his mother. He found Irene’s attending physician and introduced himself. “Doctor, I’m Irene Chatham’s son. She was just brought in by ambulance -how is she doing p>
He’d taken his mother’s last name, Chatham.
The doctor smiled reassuringly. “Your mother suffered a sudden heart attack. It was very serious, but fortunately a bystander administered emergency aid in time. That’s why she’s out of danger now. You and your family should really thank that person she gave your mother a second chance at life p>
Larkin let out a long, shaky breath.
Thank God. Thank God his mother was all right.
The doctor continued, “She’ll still need to stay here for a couple of days under observation. You can go ahead and arrange her admission p>
“I will. Thank you.” Larkin nodded and asked his secretary to handle the paperwork for Irene’s stay.
He went straight to the VIP room where his mother was recovering.
“Mom, you scared me half to death! Why didn’t you go out with Aaron and Barrett today?” Aaron and Barrett were Irene’s assistants-if they’d been with her, she probably wouldn’t have collapsed alone on the street.
“I just wanted to take a walk by myself. Didn’t expect to have a heart attack. But honestly, I’m fine now-nothing to worry about,” Irene said, smiling. “But Larkin, if you’d gotten here sooner, you could’ve met the wonderful girl who saved me. If not for her, I might not be here right now p>
“I heard about it from the doctor. Mom, do you have her contact information? We have to thank her in person for what she did p>
Irene’s face fell with regret. “She only gave me her last name-not even her first name! But I think she must live locally. Larkin, you must find her for me! In this day and age, with all our technology, tracking someone down shouldn’t be too hard p>
