From the moment Shaun first saw Elise dancing in the bar, he knew she was trouble, and that she was after him.
The only reason he kept her around was because people called her “Halsey 2.0”. He wanted to see how Halsey would react when she saw him with a woman who had ulterior motives, a woman who was basically her replacement.
He wanted to see if Halsey would get jealous.
He wanted to know if she still cared about him.
He didn’t care what anyone else said he needed to find out for himself.
And now, he had his answer.
Ever since Elise had been by his side, Halsey had been distracted, unlike herself.
She was jealous.
She still cared.
Halsey glared at the amusement in his eyes and said, “You’ve really changed. You weren’t like this before.”
Shaun grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the bed. “If I’ve changed, it’s because of you.”
“Because of me?”
“Yeah. I wanted to become someone you’d fall for.”
Her heart softened. “Didn’t you say we were over?”
Shaun tightened his grip. “It’s not up to me. It’s up to you. We’re only over if you say we are. Got it?”
He was leaving the decision to her.
Halsey silenced him with a kiss, her lips crashing against his.
Shaun froze for a second before taking control, deepening the kiss with a hunger that had been building for days. Halsey wrapped her arms around his neck, matching his intensity.
But then, suddenly, he pulled away.
Her lips were still tingling, her eyes glazed. “What’s wrong?”
His voice was rough. “Are you…okay with this?”
She smirked. “Okay with what?”
“You know what.”
“No, I don’t.”
Shaun groaned. “I want you.”
She loved seeing him like this-the usually composed CEO, reduced to begging for her. With a swift move, she flipped him onto his back, straddling him.
Shaun blinked up at her. “What are you doing?”
Halsey grinned. “Taking you.”
She kissed him again, trailing her lips down his jaw, his throat, and lower….
Shaun’s breath hitched, his body burning. They had been together since their school days and were perfectly in sync. He loved this side of Halsey-bold, demanding, and utterly irresistible.
Much later, Halsey stood at the bathroom sink, rinsing her mouth. Shaim wrapped his arms around her from behind, pressing a kiss to her hair. “You okay?”
She smirked at him in the mirror. “Are you seriously asking that now?”
He leaned in to kiss her, but she dodged him and gripped his tie instead. She dragged him out of the bathroom, through the room, and shoved him onto the bed.
Climbing over him, she raised an eyebrow. “So, you still have it in you?”
His eyes darkened with desire. “What do you mean?”
Halsey smirked. “I served you. Now, it’s my turn.”
She kissed him hard, and Shaun pulled her closer, his hands gripping her waist. “Whatever you want, my lady. I’m all yours.”
Time lost meaning. Halsey felt like a boat tossed by waves, rising and falling until one final, crushing surge pulled her under.
